Roscoe's Quick Notes

my micro-blog

Late afternoon Tuesday and one major chore accomplished today: sorted through paperwork in my home/office, aggregated numerous passwords and mailing addresses. Two imposing piles of correspondence either filed away or otherwise disposed of.

Glad to see the American flag I mounted on the front porch yesterday is still flying. Not too sure about the permanence of my mounting.

Late afternoon Monday and I consider this day a success. Three main chores accomplished: 1.) did my weekly laundry, and 2.) downloaded and printed financial docs to summarize my budget work for another month, and 3.) remounted the American flag on my front porch.

Late morning of another quiet Sunday. It's a pretty day outside, but the heat and humidity out there will have me inside with the a/c (hopefully) all day.

An early afternoon Rangers game and a late afternoon USFL game are slated to be my TV entertainment options today.

Watching tonight's Svengoolie and enjoying the end of a day that has gone more smoothly than I suspected it might. A disturbing social event never materialized.

Huh! It appears I was more distracted by yesterday's announced verdict in the rigged Trump trial than I thought. One of the daily chores I unknowingly ignored was micro-posting a random thought.

Today I remember. Good for me.

Having another quiet, restful day. Recovering from yesterday's yard work. Following the Rangers vs D-backs game.

This morning I reactivated the Raspberry Pi 4 computer and gave it a full upgrade. Was pleased to see that it remains compatible with my HP printer. That being the case, I'll keep the Chromebook on my little table in the front room and enjoy more free table space back here in my room.

After trying for several days, this morning I finally mowed the front yard. Took me 2 ½ hours (after taking several rest breaks) but I got it done. Before the storms move in, as they're supposed to do later this evening.

I hope you all are having a safe and properly respectful Memorial Day.

My day is quieter than I'd planned. I WAS hoping to mow the front lawn today, but extreme heat outside (heat index is already at 105F before Noon), and ongoing arthritic soreness and weakness in my hands and arms, convince me to hold off on that chore for another day.

Listening now to the Baltimore Orioles radio network ahead of their early afternoon game vs the Boston Red Sox.

A slow, relaxing Sunday is underway here. Thankfully, the soreness I was expecting hasn't happened. Some residual fatigue, but practically no aches and pains other than my usual.

Following Indianapolis Sports Radio for coverage of today's Indy 500 Race. At the moment, we're just hoping conditions allow the Race to happen sometime today. Storms moving into Indianapolis have postponed the start time for at least 45 min. or an hour. It remains to be seen how long the rains continue, how long it takes to dry the track, etc.

Sore, but I'm sure I'll be much more sore tomorrow. Spent many hours this morning pruning branches, some rather big, from that big tree in the front yard.

Working with the small snip, the big snip, and the polesaw has left my fingers, hands, shoulders, and back really sore. To be expected. But at least I accomplished a lot of good work.

Final part of that chore, just completed, was to put the green organics bin, now filled, back in its regular position in front of the garage, and to pull the remaining branches to a staging area in the back yard where I can continue cutting them up sometime in the future.
