So here I am again at 03:00 having to decide: Do I launch into my morning chores and call this an early start to the day, or do I crawl back under the covers and try for another hour or two of sleep.

So yesterday went well, until it didn't. Handled the two chores I'd set for myself smoothly and early. Handled a third that came unexpectedly. But then the wife came home super-stressed after having work done on her new car. And I got super-stressed trying to calm her down. After a rough night of more insomnia than sleep I found my blood pressure spiked higher than it's been for a long time. My challenge for today will be bringing the bp back down to a sensible level.

One very productive Sunday this has been. Our allergies kept Sylvia and me home from Mass this morning. But after our symptoms moderated later in the day, we both got a lot of good work accomplished.

This Saturday has turned out to be a much better day than yesterday. I didn't really get much done beyond paying some bills, but the wife was very busy. And she was able to move forward the good plans I'd set for resolving a problem related to our purchase of her new car. I expect to sleep MUCH better tonight than last night.

So the last few days have been long and stressful. Bought the wife a new car and dealing with all the setup appointments, paperwork, and budgetary adjustments is proving to be quite challenging.

Heard the local radio guy describe the tree allergy misery he's currently suffering through. His symptoms match mine. To. A. T. Nearly constant sinus headache with severe pain behind one of his eyes. For him it's the right eye, for me it's my left. He knows others going through the same thing right now. So. At least I know I'm not alone in this.

So today will be a two-chore Sunday in the Roscoe-verse. An hour and a half or so ago I walked over to STM and picked up 2 KofC BBQ plates. That's dinner for me and the wife, and that's one chore down. Later today I'll compose and post an email to my KofC Google Group at the request of our Election Chairman. That will be the day's 2nd chore. And that will be enough for today.

For most of my life I've tried to set myself 3 major chores to accomplish each day. Now that I'm older and no longer have the energy of a young man it's time for a change. Starting today I'm assigning myself 1 major chore per day. And today I've already completed that 1 task. So it's with a certain sense of satisfaction that I move into the late afternoon/early evening of this Saturday.

TGIF!! This Friday morning finds me feeling less miserable than most mornings for the past week or so. Resting my eyes by staying offline (not staring a computer screen or my phone) and mega-dosing with my allergy med (Zyrtec) yesterday helped. And I'll continue that tactic today. The tree pollens are still heavy and that's the reason for my “sickness.” And there's nothing I can do about the pollen level. Best I can do is treat the symptoms the best way I can and soldier on.
