viewEach day since the wife left on her vacation has been a day of adjustment here.
This day was very productive: I made good progress in the two projects I'd set for today: spending 2 hours at yard work, mowing and raking the front yard; and reassigning one of my regular billings to a new credit card which will make budgeting the 1st few months of 2025 easier to handle.
Tonight I'll be listening to college football, IU vs Notre Dame.

viewThe major part of this day has been smoothly productive. The only points of frustration came from trying to communicate with someone who has a very limited understanding and a significant amount of misunderstanding of how computer messaging works. Communications are so often a challenge. sigh.

viewThis has been a day of making adjustments, and tomorrow will be another. The wife is taking a well-deserved 3-week vacation to the other side of the world, visiting family members she's not seen for decades, and grandchildren she's never been able to see in person. So I'm here at home, holding down the fort while she's gone.
Lord knows I've got plenty do do here. But for the next 3-weeks I won't need to wake early to fix breakfast and see her off to work. So today I've turned off the alarms I've been using to wake myself early. Wonder how long it will take me to get used to sleeping in. Heh. Guess I'll find out.

In addition to the Christmas Cookies pictured in yesterday's post, the young cooks prepared more Christmas treats. Seen here with the Gingerbread Houses they made are my daughter, one of my granddaughters, and my great grandson.

Pictured above is a Bishop-Queen-2 pawns combination checkmate I used to capture the White King in winning a correspondence chess game this morning. As you can see, my Bishop on the b6 square delivers the mating move. He is protected by my Queen, who also covers 2 of the King's possible flight squares. My pawns on b7 and c6 cover the other possible flight squares.

viewWatching this afternoon's Army / Navy college football game. At least for as long as the TV can pull in a strong signal. If reception gets too wonky, I'll switch to radio coverage.

viewAfter a quiet day I'm tuned into Hoosier Country 105, the Flagship Radio Station for IU Sports waiting for their pregame show ahead of tonight's men's basketball, IU Hoosiers vs Nebraska Corn huskers. Go Hoosiers!

viewThe main chore of this Thursday (unless another pops up) has been setting up home delivery for my Rx meds from my pharmacy. 1st to be refilled is due on the 19th, and the next is on the 25th. We'll see how this works and how much it costs.

viewFinally, a decently productive day. 1.) The laundry that should have been done Monday, I got done today. And it's now all folded and put away. 2.) I also have Sylvia's travel itinerary, with all flight numbers, arrival and departure times, for her trip all recorded and saved to my computer. 3.) And I actually was able to spend an hour outside this afternoon doing yard work: cutting and picking up branches in the back yard, and loading the green organics bin for pickup tomorrow.
