UPDATED FOR 2020

Disclaimer: For those of you who don't celebrate Christmas- this post isn't for you. For those of you who do, you'll find this INCREDIBLY nostalgic!

I am a Christmas fanatic. I LOVE Christmas. I love the snow, the lights, the carols, the movies, the cookies, the family time, the traditions- everything about it brings me joy. For those of you freaking out at me because of thanksgiving- take a chill pill- thanksgiving is respected on thanksgiving day.

It all really started with my Mom who would go above and beyond to make Christmas time happy and memorable. She would get so excited about wrapping our holiday books for advent or filling our advent calendar with chocolates to keep us occupied during our morning devotions, or sitting down to watch her favorite Christmas movies by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa. I personally cannot wait to carry on these traditions with my kids.

November 1st I am listening to Christmas music and by mid November I am watching Christmas movies and starting my decorating. Last night I was working on my ultimate Christmas movie list and Dustin suggested I post it on Coil for those of you who also love Christmas movies but don't know where you can watch them all!

I've narrowed them down by streaming service or where you can purchase them if they're not available to stream! I also attempted to note when a movie is on ABC or ABC Family/Freeform for the 25 days of Christmas lineup, but I encourage you to check it out & mark your favorites in your calendar! I've got EVERYTHING on this list from holiday classics to cheesy hallmark and classic cartoons!

If you're like me and can't afford to buy all of your favorites or pay for a thousand different streaming services, stop by a local library!

🎄The Little Drummer Boy

🎄Frosty the Snowman

🎄Cricket on the Hearth

🎄Rudolph

🎄The Year Without A Santa Claus

🎄Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town (ABC 12/1- 8 pm EST)

Most of these cannot be purchased or streamed, (technically you can watch them on YouTube for free or YouTube TV for rent) but because I love them so much, I chose to purchase the entire collection from Walmart. You can grab yours here!

🎅Home Alone 1 & 2

I shall not explain myself here, cuz, duh. Both of these are available for rent; $2.99 on Vudu or $3.99 everywhere else.

🎅Santa Clause 1,2,3

All three of these can be rented on YouTube, Amazon or iTunes for $2.99 each OR if you're like me and LOVE these movies and want them for your kids to watch, I bought the bundle on Amazon!

🎅Charlie Brown Christmas

We always watched this movie when we decorated the house for Christmas! You can rent this on YouTube or Amazon. You can also catch this on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC!

🎅Eloise at Christmastime

As a little girl I dreamt of spending a Christmas at The Plaza Hotel. This movie is exactly that. If you have a daughter, she will LOVE this movie! You can pick this up for $5 at Walmart, Amazon or Target!

🎅The Polar Express

I used to be terrified of this movie as a child but now I love it. Snuggle up with your love and a cup of cocoa! Available for rent for $3.99 on all platforms. Keep your eye out for local showings of this in theaters, usually they play it around Christmastime and in my opinion, it's so much better on the big screen!

🎅The Muppets Christmas Carol

*sigh* what great memories. I mean what's better than the muppets & a classic Christmas story? Who else had this on VHS? 🙋🏼‍♀️ This is available to rent on all platforms for $2.99.

🎅Mickeys Once Upon a Christmas

(Not pictured) I don't care how old you are, Disney Christmas shorts are the best. This is also available to rent on all platforms for $2.99.

If you have cable you can usually catch most of these on ABC Family/Freeform 25 Days of Christmas. Also, these are all family friendly for older kids.

🎁 A Christmas Story

There's only one way to learn about licking poles in the winter! 🤷‍♀️

Available for rent, $3.99 on all platforms.

🎁 A Christmas Carol

There are SO many versions of this but our family favorite has always been the 1999 Patrick Stewart version. (FYI- It's not for young children, slightly terrifying.) It's FREE to watch on Vudu, or you can rent it on YouTube or purchase on Amazon.

🎁 National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

Ah. Classic. This is the movie my family watches every year after we chop down our Christmas tree and wrap it in lights. This is by far my favorite tradition we have. You can watch it all season long on TV or rent it for $3.99 on all platforms.

🎁 Jingle All the Way

This one is not on the top of my list, but it's solid and funny for kids. You can rent it on Vudu for $2.99 or all other platforms for $3.99.

🎁 Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

I actually watch this movie on Thanksgiving typically, because it starts with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, but it's good no matter what day of the year! You can rent this on Vudu for $2.99 or all other platforms for $3.99. I believe all of these rentals are in black & white, which I personally love, but if you prefer movies in color, like my husband, you can find it on the internet, you just have to search a little.

🎁 Elf

A family favorite that you can rent for $3.99 on all platforms or catch live on TV or in special theaters all season long!

⛄ Noel

This is a feel-good made-for-tv movie about Christmastime in NYC featuring Susan Sarandon & Penélope Cruz. You can stream it for FREE on Vudu, Tubi & (I made a mistake) Amazon Prime.

⛄ Love Actually

Available to rent for $3.99, this is the perfect Christmas movie for date night or girls night.

⛄ Little Women (1994)

This is a classic, not specifically a Christmas movie, but with all of the Christmas scenes, it definitely makes the cut. Catch the new 2019 version in theaters December 25th or rent the classic on Amazon for $3.99.

⛄ The Holiday

Available to rent for $2.99 on Amazon, this is another great Christmas movie for date night!

⛄ While You Were Sleeping

Available to rent for $3.99 on Amazon, I CAN’T believe I forgot this in the first draft, it’s one of my favorites. If you’re a Chicago lover, you’ll love this one!

These all used to be on Netflix which is how I discovered them, but sadly they aren't anymore & I have to search high & low to watch them. These are for all of my girls who love cheesy Hallmark movies and want to binge watch on a Saturday! 💋

🔔 12 Dates of Christmas

This movie is so cringy but SO GOOD. All you need is a blanket and a bottle of wine for this baby. Available to rent for $3.99 on Amazon & iTunes!

🔔 All I Want for Christmas

$1.99 on YouTube, this is another made-for-tv-heart-warmer. All Jessie wants for Christmas is a husband for his widowed mother- his favorite toy company just might be able to grant his wish!

🔔 A Christmas Kiss

Working girl from Boston falls in love with her evil boss's sweet fiancé during Christmas time? So much yes. Free to stream on Vudu!

🔔 The Heart of Christmas

A Christmas movie about a little boy fighting cancer, how much more Hallmark can ya get? It's sad, but it's so sweet and so good. Available for FREE to stream on Tubi.

Below are an assortment of cheesy Netflix original Christmas movies and Christmas classics! I've ranked my top picks and included all of the ones I'm planning on watching for the first time this season!

Hey loves! I am feeling very anti-productive today.. I should probably take my own advice from yesterday's post! 😅 I am low-key avoiding my responsibilities with music.

I know I haven't done a Riley's Radar in a few weeks, it's actually because a lot of artists don't release music in November and December. Music usually doesn't do well during these months unless it's Christmas music, so most artists take a break from releasing music until January- I am one of those artists! Instead of focusing on small artists this week, I wanted to share a few of my new favorite songs that have come out semi-recently from my favorite women in pop!

Sneak away at lunch or jam out in your car on the drive home from work to these badass women!

“Kissing Other People” – Lennon Stella

https://youtu.be/cMx0xKxRRiw

This is SUCH a bop. I love Lennon Stella so so much, really this one is a no-brainer.

“Get's Better” – Catie Turner

https://youtu.be/XEWfzBQKEMk

Best known for her time on American Idol, Catie Turner lives for quirkiness and authentic raw lyrics. This is a fantastic follow up to her EP “The Sad Vegan” that she released earlier this year.

“Too Sad To Cry” – Sasha Sloan

https://youtu.be/lZgMDIT41PE

The lyrics of this song literally make me cry or tear up every time I listen. So maybe you won't jam out to this, but if you're having a crappy day, this will make you feel worse and then oddly better. But for real, if you haven't heard her new album, go listen to the entire thing, it's brilliant.

“Something I'm Not” – Emily Weisband

https://youtu.be/zVNaOmsbnMo

Emily is a beautiful human in and out and her newest EP “Identity Crisis” is a work of art. “Something I'm Not” is the last song on the release and even though it will have you grooving and singing along by the second chorus, her lyrics are deep and meaningful.

And last but certainly not least...

“Lost You To Love Me” – Selena Gomez

https://youtu.be/zlJDTxahav0

I have no words for this song. It makes my heart smile and cry all at once. One of my favorite artists Julia Michaels penned this with Selena and their raw pain flows out beautifully in this song. There's no wonder it's Selena's first #1 on the Billboard charts.

As some of you may have noticed, I'm usually pretty on top of things. I like to have my post for the next day done and my topics for the week planned out and ready to go! But have any of you ever experienced the “downward spiral” of getting dis-organized?

Sometimes you don't even realize it's happening... You have a really good routine going and then you have one mis-step or one sick day or one day of feeling “bleh” and all of the sudden it's been 3 days and then a week and then 2 weeks and you haven't done anything you were supposed to!

I personally have experienced that downward spiral in many different ways. Whether it's been through my organization skills, my business, my hobbies, my music or even my mental health- sometimes I don't even realize what's happening until it feels like it's too late.

It can be very overwhelming when you get behind on work projects, meal prepping, working out daily, cleaning or anything like that. For example, I usually have all of my Coil posts done or planned for the week. This week I took a mental health day and then I got sick for two days and then it was my birthday and I started freaking out yesterday because I realized I hadn't posted in three days! Thankfully I had taken the day off of work for my birthday and so I threw together a post that I'd already half-way started for an Instagram caption.

Old me wouldn't have done that. Old me would've gotten angry at myself for not getting anything done in days and I would've shut down and ignored the task for a few more days or even weeks.

So how did I get to that point?

I believe that your work ethic and your drive are huge factors when accomplishing goals and pursing dreams, but I also think perspective plays a huge part.

Even when you get overwhelmed, if you can look past that for a moment and see the big picture with a long-term perspective, you can get excited and re-motivated, enough to accomplish just that first task. I believe that the first task after coming out of a slump can truly be the hardest, even if it's not difficult on one of your best days! Once you accomplish that task, it get's the ball rolling and you can accomplish everything else you need to and get back on track.

It's also important to realize that

You cannot accomplish your goals or work at the top of your potential if you are not well rested. Really prioritize sleeping 7-8 hours a night and try not to work right up until bed time or as soon as you wake up. Take care of yourself and rest (that includes taking vacations and mental health days) or your body will make you and you will probably get even more behind that way. Allow yourself rest and realize that it's just a part of progress and achieving your goals!

I truly understand feeling behind and overwhelmed, so here's a quick check list that you can pull up for when you're in a slump and you want to get back to feeling productive!

Take a breath, Appreciate yourself for all of you have accomplished in your life and all that you are capable of.

Meditate for a few minutes on how it feels when you're working at the top of your energy. Doesn't it feel great? What was a time where you accomplished something amazing, what mindset did you have to get into to accomplish it?

Identify what you feel behind on. Now look at the greater perspective, are you really behind or will it be ok if it doesn't get done right away?

Separate the tasks and goals by the nearest or the “latest” deadline.

Go wash your face and tell yourself that you've got this; in the mirror!

Go eat something energizing (avoid carbs and sweets).

Make sure that your surroundings are clean so that you can focus on the tasks at hand. Maybe this means simply lighting a candle, or opening up the curtains; anything to lift your mood.

Choose one small task that you know you can accomplish and go and do it.

Once that task is completed, choose a slightly larger task that will help you accomplish your highest prioritized goal.

Continue on with steps 8 and 9 until you have chipped away or completed the first few tasks on your list. Then take a break or continue on the next day, whatever you need to not feel burnt out.

Remember, you are capable of so much and we all get a little off track.

xoxo – Riley Q

It's my 20th Birthday and although I've taken a few days off from posting (I was sick) I wanted to hop back on with a few things I've learned in my 19th year of life!

🎉Age is just a number.

Being 19 didn’t stop marriage, moving, or music.

🎉Foundations are necessary.

If you want to be successful you have to slow down and lay a strong foundation for your success to thrive off of.

🎉Long distance friendships are hard.

The key to strong friendship is adaptation & not manipulation.

🎉You DON’T have to jump on everyone’s bandwagons. If you don’t want to join the company, don’t.

If you don’t want to hang out with “those” people, stop.

If you don't agree with someone, don't feel like you have to pretend.

🎉This life is your only life.

Rather than idolizing a “best life” try to enjoy every moment of this life, regardless of if it's crazy spectacular or not.

🎉Health is important.

You must prioritize your health, being tired 24/7 is no way to live.

🎉That being said...

God gave us coffee, embrace the gift.

🎉Your lobster is out there.

When you find them, it’s going to be the right time and they’re going to make you better.

https://youtu.be/bKBovKaCUHQ?t=5

🎉Unfollow & unfriend.

Those who exhaust you & make you feel bad about yourself, they’re not worth it. Even if they’re family.

🎉Buying candles is worth it.

They'll warm your soul.

🎉The wedding doesn’t actually matter that much.

Don’t spend a bajillion dollars. Go to pre-marriage counseling.

🎉Don’t blow all of your money in HS & College.

You’re going to wish you hadn’t racked up debt or spent every last dime you made.

🎉The crappy job is temporary if you have the will.

With that being said... God has the way.

🎉Take time for the little things that make you happy.

Paint your nails, froth the milk for your coffee, light the candle, take a bath, put on bold lipstick, bake the cookies, go to the concert- whatever it is, life is too short to not do things that make your heart happy.

🎉Crappy things are going to happen in your life.

The longer you dwell on the crap, the less time you’ll have to enjoy the rest of your life.

🎉Marriage is hard.

You really won’t understand the full extent until your married- regardless of how confident you are in the relationship and that's ok.

🎉Getting pregnant is not as easy as “16 & Pregnant” makes it out to be. That’s all.

🎉Take off your makeup & take out your contacts at night.

Your face thanks you.

🎉If you’re unhappy, take your focus off of the circumstances.

Consider how you got there and if you have to stay in the circumstances. Your attitude will reveal a lot.

🎉Don’t stop dreaming, stop comparing & don’t allow circumstances to determine your actions.

Thank you for all of your support and your love and your birthday wishes! I love sharing my life with this community!

My birthday wish this year is that “B Ok” hits a thousand streams this week! It would mean the WORLD to me if you went and gave it a listen, added it to one of your playlists and shared on social media. All of the love & support is what keeps me going. 💕

“B Ok” is a sad-girl pop anthem about accepting your anxiety and flaws, specifically in the era of social media. I tackle the realities of being an awkward teenager through lyrical jokes- from inadvertently telling someone they're “big” in the second verse, to gaining confidence in the bridge with a Motown-inspired groove. I am blasting this bop to my following of Millenial and Gen Z “loves” who are trying to get through life and insecurities to see they're going to “b ok”.

Happy Halloween loves! I hope your day is filled with plenty of Reese's cups (my personal favorite) and fun Halloween festivities!

Real quick, if I could just steal ya for a second, I'd love to drop a quick thought on ya.

Today's the last day of October. We've got two months left of this year and this decade. Crazy, right? I feel like 2010 was just yesterday and the end of the world was right around the corner! 😉

Anyways, we've made it past the world ending, through the second decade of this century and we are well on our way to the third decade. I know a lot of people like to set New Years Resolutions and set new intentions at the beginning of the year, but I'd love to chat about what needs to happen BEFORE those resolutions, so that you can be successful in them.

With two months left to go, we have a bit more time to deal with the crap we are hiding behind. Halloween is a fun day, you get to dress up, act like a kid, eat a whole bunch of candy and not worry about the consequences until November! It's great! You can be anybody you want for a whole day and nobody questions you.

Let's think on that for a second... “you get to be anybody you want and nobody questions you?” Now I'd like for you to think for a second about who you are...

🎃 What makes you, you?

🎃 What are your best personality traits?

🎃 What are your worst?

🎃 What talents do you have?

🎃 What parts of your personality do you let the world see?

🎃 Now what parts of your personality are you hiding because you are embarrassed or worried about how they will be perceived by your community?

Now let me propose something crazy...

🦇How would you feel if you were able to drop all of the personality traits that aren't really you, that you're hiding behind?

🦇 Could you put down the mask and step into your true self?

🦇 How much more would you be able to accomplish?

🦇 How much happier would you be?

At some point in our lives, usually when we're growing up, we do or say something that is a reflection of our true selves, but someone responds in a weird or confusing way and it makes us back down from that trait. We start covering up the parts about ourselves that we're unsure of and we start putting on masks to make those around us happy. Some of us feel like we have to switch masks all day long, depending on who we're with. Some of us feel the need to wear a mask 24/7 so that no one ever discovers who we really are.

Let me give you an example of one of my masks that I used to wear...

Between the years of 13-17 I was often treated like the “mom” of my friend group. The guys that I hung out with, specifically, treated me like I was supposed to take care of them and make sure that get togethers were planned, etc. I was only ever included if I did these things, so in attempts to keep my “friends”, I'd wear the “mom” mask. I would always make sure that everyone had a ride, nobody was left out, everyone had a birthday party planned, there was always food and desserts at our get-togethers, I always had gum, lotion, hair ties; literally anything you could ever need in my purse, etc. I was always the one that would drive and I'd maintain a serious demeanor most of the time. They acted like I was weird when I'd joke around with them, they'd make fun of me if I danced or partied with them, so I stopped. I put more and more “makeup” on and I added to the masks, every time I was around them. After a lot of crap went down, I eventually started taking my masks off. I stopped trying to please everyone around me and started focusing on pleasing myself. Throughout this process, I started focusing on the things that I was passionate about and this attracted friends into my life who loved who I truly was. Through that I was able to truly accept who I am and embrace that unapologetically. Now, do those insecurities still come up? Yes. Do I still try to put those masks on sometimes? Absolutely. But now I know what it feels like to be myself and I quickly throw them off.

When you put down your mask and you step into who you truly are, you are able to rise to your best self.

When you take care of yourself, your relationships and you protect your values- you are able to be infinitely more successful.

Successful isn't just about what you have, but how you achieved it and who you can share that with.

🕸️ Wouldn't it feel amazing to feel free?

🕸️ Wouldn't it be amazing to feel the weight of the chains gone?

🕸️ Wouldn't it feel amazing to know that as you step into this new decade that you are unapologetically yourself and you're ready to achieve everything you set your mind to with full force?

👻 Stop hurting yourself by holding back.

👻 Stop depriving yourself of people who fully appreciate you.

👻 Stop allowing other people's opinions to define who you are.

👻 Stop withholding freedom from yourself.

So enjoy your night, dance the night away and eat all of the candy while you pretend to be whoever you are. But tomorrow marks the first of the last 61 days of this year. Sit down and seriously consider who you really are inside and who you are to everyone else. If that's not the same person, I encourage you to drop the mask(s) and step into this next year and decade with confidence and ready to take on the world. The world, believe it or not, needs you- not the persona that you think they want.

With all of the buzz and excitement circulating around the XRP Community Choice awards on November 16th- which I am so excited to be performing at- I thought I'd talk about why I typically don't play shows.

The roaring fans, the lights, the vibration of amps buzzing- it's all very exciting.

But that is NOT how you start off- **or could you**?

Most musicians start off playing small dive bars and coffee shops where nobody really cares who you are or what you sound like. They may even ask for you to be turned down so they can maintain their conversations. 😂 Although this can be humiliating, we all have to start somewhere- but not because you're not capable of growing fans quickly, but because you have to practice.

Practicing stage presence is a vital piece of the puzzle. Getting comfortable just being on stage, pouring your heart out to be people who really don't care- is just a part of the gig.

Shows can be a musicians dream come true and nightmare all in one. Once they actually make it out on stage, as long all goes as planned, it can be great, but the motions set in place to get there are an uphill climb to say the least.

Now I must note that everything I share in this article must be prefaced with the fact that I am an independent artist and I am not passing these responsibilities onto a booking agent or a manager at the moment.

Living in Nashville, as an artist, there is a natural expectation for you to grab your guitar and hit the stage as soon as you step foot in town. Although I have seen a lot of artists do that, I don't necessarily think that is the best use of your time, money, energy and efforts. You see, especially in Nashville, the music scene is over-saturated with a lot of “meh” musicians, mixed in with incredible musicians. But you don't see the incredible musicians playing all of the same, easy-to-get-in, generic spots that the others are playing. In fact, you see the incredible musicians, quickly making their way to the top, not because the right people were at the “meh” venues, but because they were intentionally putting their time, efforts and money into avenues that connected them to the right people.

Let me explain.

The purpose behind playing shows has changed significantly in the past 20 years. Rather than playing anywhere and everywhere, you should be playing shows at very specific places. You see, playing shows isn't really about gaining fans, your ROI is going to be practically microscopic unless you are opening for a huge musician at a festival or event. Playing shows is actually about making the fans that you already have, happy. And how do you gain fans in the 21st century? The internet.

You see the musicians in Nashville who are absolutely killing it, are killing it because they have a devoted online fan base who want to see them succeed. They put out music online constantly, through streaming and YouTube and then when they do put that they're playing a show, their fans come out and see them and sing along because they already KNOW them. They can guarantee a large turnout, so venues are more apt to pay them more money and they are able to scale their value/guarantee very quickly.

The smaller venues that don't have as much to spend usually focus their efforts on just getting artists in and out. This leaves artists who aren't actually that good, playing at those venues on a regular basis. This works perfectly as a tourist trap in Nashville. They are always able to advertise “live music” because they only have to pay a small amount of money to the artists that aren't very good and they keep them coming back because those artists don't know their worth or they don't care. This allows the venue to make a large profit and keeps the toxic cycle going. So especially for those of you who live in Nashville, just because you see an artist out playing a ton of shows, doesn't mean that they have a fan base, a lot of money or a lot of connections. In fact, that leads me to my next point.

The artists that are out playing a ton of shows, all the time, don't typically have a solid, scaleable business plan. They are just trying to get a bit of money wherever they can. They aren't thinking about the longterm. They aren't thinking about where their probable fans are located. They aren't thinking about how they can use social media to garner a greater impact. Although they might be “doing” a lot, it's not actually “doing” a lot FOR them.

For those musicians that LOVE playing shows, that's great- but are they making a sustainable profit? A scaleable, long term, I-could-retire-off-this profit? Most likely not.

I get a lot of flack from local Nashville artists. They think I'm stuck up, not paying my “dues” to the industry, and they think I'm going to be a terrible musician because I don't perform (which I have, I just don't anymore).

Let me flip the table around...

I see that I am at home and at the studio, spending my money and time on making new music and getting paid to release that music through scaleable means such as streaming and using platforms like Coil & Cinnamon.

I see myself gaining a significantly higher ROI with real, engaged fans on my social media platforms than I EVER would playing random shows.

I see myself only competing against myself for people's attention and devotion, because I'm not trying to book all the shows that other musicians are all fighting over.

I see myself reaching a higher number of people because I'm focusing on ad targeting in the places that I know already have people who WANT to be my fans.

Does that not seem amazing? To be able to gain a TANGIBLE fan base from home, rather than spending time and money trying to book shows, pay a band, find & pay for a rehearsal space, spend time rehearsing, advertise, lug all of the gear to a space that can only hold a hundred people (IF that) and then try to get them to remember me, look me up on social media, download my music & share it- oh and get paid a VERY small amount of money while doing it? Not worth it.

Instead, I show up online everyday, where my potential fans are already hanging out and I share stories and life with them. I share my music that will speak to them, the way it spoke to me. They are already then sharing and listening to my music (naturally expanding my audience without the begging) and then when I have enough of my fans in a certain place I will be able to book shows in those cities and towns where I KNOW I will have a great turn out.

So what do you need to have to make this scaleable method work for you?

1. Consistency

You MUST be consistent. This means releasing music on a regular basis, showing up on all of your social platforms daily, engaging with your fans and followers to create a family that they love being a part of and being consistently authentic. Your fans and followers will see a fake personality from a mile away.

2. Persistence

You also must be persistent. You must persevere and realize that success, especially in the music industry, is a long term journey and it will NOT be handed to you. You must work for everything you want to achieve and keep your eye on the goal and the purpose behind it. Having to show up everyday can feel exhausting, but if you are focused on the long term reward of getting paid a lot of money to play shows to people who already love you and getting paid to make stories come alive in music, it's all going to be worth it.

I am SO excited to play for the XRP Community Choice Awards on the 16th. It's going to be a great time and is a perfect example of playing a show to the fans you already have- it's just a bonus that I get to do it from home on a camera! 😉

In a world that is constantly moving at what feels like the speed of light, it can be hard to feel like you're not always falling behind. Constantly comparing ourselves to our closest competition, always analyzing our numbers and tearing apart our stats, feeling like what we create and produce is never good enough- someone is doing it better.

So we drink that extra cup of coffee to stay awake and try and outperform our last efforts.

We take that extra side job to fund more of our efforts.

We skip that party to work on our craft.

We shut our friends and family out to avoid getting distracted.

Success has a price and we are willing to pay it- even if it means shoving the outside world away to do it.

We run ourselves dry until there is nothing left to give and then we attempt a few “self care days” (aka staying in bed all day, chronically depressed) and then we enter the cycle all over again.

This method, although proven successful by celebrities, business owners and millionaires alike, is not sustainable.

We scroll through Twitter and see celebrities falling apart at the seams because they are alone with buckets of money and nothing to do with it.

We see influential people having major breakdowns and overdosing or going to jail for things that, if they had just taken a second to think, they wouldn't have done. We see alcoholics, addicts, sex-trafficking, severe depression, anxiety and suicide stem from a lifestyle- that although looks shiny and glamorous from the outside- is destroying that person on the inside.

So I have to ask, is this the only way?

Is success, sustainability, wealth and abundance only achievable by running yourself into the ground over and over again? Is loneliness and addiction the fate of every person who strives for success?

I don't think so. I believe there are other ways to become successful- much healthier and sustainable ways that will ensure success and the longevity of that success.

First I must ask you to define success. It's a relative definition based off of your childhood experiences and the way that you fantasize your adult life playing out. Is success piles of money? Influence? Doing the craft you love full time? Loads of friends? Exclusive experiences? A combination of all of them?

Most people settle for mundane lives. It's just the reality of the world we live in. Most people believe they aren't capable of achieving greatness, so they choose to obtain a regular 9-5 job, live paycheck to paycheck, start a family and work until they retire and then eventually die. Now this is a fine way to live if you truly don't want to spend your energy and efforts on being extraordinary- it's not an easy burden to bear. I'm not saying that any of these things are inherently bad, but I believe there is a more fulfilling life to live than such. I choose to define success as freedom from a 9-5, the ability to spend, save, invest and give frivolously, start a family in security and live in a generous and humble way until I die and leave a legacy for my family to carry on. Obviously society would not be able to function correctly if this was everyone's dream. We need mechanics and doctors and nurses and fireman and accountants to function and that's okay for that to be your dream- it's like I said, YOU have to define what success means to you!

Regardless of how you define success, attaining it does not have to spiral you out of control. Unlike most celebrities have shown, I think it's possible to both have success and your sanity, but it's a matter of how you treat yourself and your mindset BEFORE you attain success.

Specifically in the digital asset/crypto community, we talk about “going to the moon” and showing people you've achieved financial “success” in the form of a lambo all the time. I believe wholeheartedly certain digital assets will take off and the results are going to be incredible, which is why NOW is the time to be working on our mindsets and the foundation behind our future plans. (As always this is all for entertainment purposes only and not investment advice)

If you don't have a plan for how you're going to handle your finances long term, especially with great sums of money- you're going to fall into the “lottery ticket” trap and become another statistic who blows all of their money and ends up bankrupt.

If you aren't actively taking care of your relationships in a healthy way now, you're not going to be able to tend for them in a healthy way when wealth and power falls into your hands. You will have people who make you think that they want you, flocking to your side- only to leave when they get what they want.

If you aren't actively taking care of your body and your mindset, you are going to fall into temptations, addictions, depression and other illnesses. You have to establish healthy habits and boundaries that will keep you going for the rest of your life, through all circumstances.

Plan out a saving, spending and investing plan NOW with room to adjust for an influx of capital.

Strive to make and maintain healthy friendships and relationships NOW so that you know who is really in your corner that you can trust.

Start working out, eating healthy, cutting bad habits and limiting your time spent on social media NOW. Go to a therapist NOW.

When you do the things now that will support your success later, that opens up the gateway for that success to roll in. You're telling yourself and the world around you that you WILL be successful and that you are going to do it in a healthy way that will benefit you and others the most. I believe that the law of attraction, even in Christianity is a VERY real thing. I believe that God does not bless us with things we won't be able to handle correctly. He gives us everything that we need (Matthew 6:25-33) but He does not give us more than that unless we are going to be good stewards of it. (Matthew 25:14-30)

Regardless of if you are a Christian, or if you believe in God or the Universe- the same concepts apply. A lot of people believe in manifestation and law of attraction. According to LOA- you have to believe that you're ready for it and prepare yourself mentally/spiritually/physically. When you do the same practices that you would when you have the wealth/opportunities/etc, the things that you desire start to flow, because you're telling the universe that you're ready for them. The more you try to make things happen by forcing it, the harder those opportunities gridlock themselves, making them impossible to reach.

When you relax your mind, treat yourself kindly and work diligently towards the goals you set, things start to work themselves out. Regardless of how you believe they work themselves out, they will and that is something you can trust.

I encourage you, if you are pursuing success in some shape or form, be diligent in your actions, be intentional in your actions, start preparing yourself now for success and start preventing burnout now. By taking time now to educate yourself, strengthen your craft, strengthen your relationships, strengthen your body and strengthen your mind- you are preparing yourself for when that success starts to flow. I guarantee you will live a more fulfilled and happier life where blessings flow in and out.

Hey ya'll,

I realize it's been awhile since I've introduced myself! With the influx of new users I thought it would be fun to say “hi!” and tell ya'll a little bit more about myself and the last few years of my story.

This is me, Riley “Q” Quin Sandrell.

I grew up bouncing back and forth between being homeschooled and attending public schools. I graduated high school at 16 and went on to work at a coffee shop and as an event planner. I ended up going on to get my certification in wedding planning and I dabbled in that area for a bit.

(learning latte art was my favorite part of my post-high school job)

As a child I had a deep love for music and performing but it wasn't until I was older that I really started pursuing it. At age 18 I moved to Nashville, by myself, and started a social media business to stay afloat. That move turned into a temporary hiatus from music. Although it was unintentional at first, it ended up turning into one of the craziest years of change, development and self-discovery that I have ever had.

Just a few days after I had been in Nashville for a month, I met Dustin- spoiler alert- he's my husband! 😉

Dustin and I met online- the typical 21st century love story. Our first date ended with an awkward hug and on our second date, we sat at Panera for 6 hours and talked. I cooked for him a week later and I was done for, he had my heart. Over the months that followed we spent all of our time together and we quickly decided to get married. Those months were amazing, getting to know each other. Learning about farm life from my VERY country boy and teaching him about my city ways was comical, to say the least.

Fast forward to December, Dustin and I went back to Michigan for Christmas. While there, Dustin proposed by the Christmas tree in Campus Martius. My two best friends were there and one of them photographed it. It was magical and perfect and I was thrilled to be marrying my best friend.

Dustin and I got married on April 6th, 2019 surrounded by family and friends in rural, middle Tennessee. We got married at the same little white church that Dustin's parents and grandparents got married at. It was a beautiful, perfect day that we will both forever cherish!

After our first month of marriage, Coil launched and so did my music career. God finally re-opened the doors to my music and allowed me the ability to be a part of something crazy and innovative. The doors that have opened for me through the XRP community and the Coil boost program have been life-changing and I'm ridiculously proud to be a part of this new movement! Dustin and I are fully embracing the Coil & Cinnamon movement and working to help lead it ourselves. Dustin actually launched his Coil & Cinnamon channels this week, going behind the scenes into our lives & telling the stories of how we ended up where we are now.

When I graduated high school early, I thought I would be well on my way to college. When God lead me away from college I was at a loss, but I followed His plan.

When I moved to Nashville, I expected to be doing music right away. Instead I felt lead to take a step back and focus on my business and that eventually music would come.

The night of me and Dustin's first date, it was between him and another guy. I on a whim, chose Dustin, even though it would mean driving 45 minutes to get there. Typically I would have never done something like that, but I felt like I was supposed to.

Funny how things happen.

If I had gone to college, like everyone expected of me, I would have never moved to Nashville. If I hadn't moved here, I wouldn't have met Dustin. If Dustin wasn't in my life, I never would've heard about XRP, been a part of Coil or had the ability to pursue music the way I do now.

If I could give any advice to those of you who are facing a hard decision or a cross-road: face it head first and move forward with confidence. When you believe that everything works out for your best interest and that there is a plan, you will be able to live life to the fullest!

I am so proud of the person that I am today and how much I have grown in the past few years. I am thankful for the ability to be a leader in the Coil community and that God has opened up the doors that He has!

Thanks for being here, reading & being part of the community. It means the world to me. 💕
