As creators we thrive off of feedback and the enjoyment of our content. Most of the time we have a hard time actually enjoying our content ourselves because we are so worried about how it's going be perceived by our peers and colleagues. So much in fact that if we don't see the results or the response that we are looking for, it can be a blow to our self-worth and we walk away feeling less than qualified and our confidence, shot.

When I first started using Instagram back in 2016, it was actually forced upon me by my friends. They were tired of me not seeing stuff and so they created my account. Needless to say I'm thankful because my first *official* business ended up being based solely off of Instagram. I was hesitant to use the platform because I had already seen what it was doing to my friends and family. They were completely obsessed with how many likes they got and how many comments they received. It was like with every reaction they received, they got a boost of dopamine that made them feel on top of the world. Even though I was envious of how awesome they felt when they hit a thousand followers or a hundred likes, I didn't want to be obsessed with it the same way they were.

There's something interesting about how humans flocked to social media. It doesn't surprise me in the least bit, considering it's a reflection of how we treat ourselves.

I don't know about you, but I grew up in a unique era. The age of “participation trophies”, “support all people” and “everyone get's an A!”. The age of transition between old technology such as cassettes and dial up internet, to laptops and flip phones. We grew up literally getting boosts of dopamine 24/7 because we always got what we wanted and what was going to make us feel “good”, when we wanted it. We got addicted to the high of feeling good about ourselves and as a result of not knowing where our true talents lie- because of the “inclusive” era- we immediately clung to social media for additional reassurance that we were in fact loved, adored and amazing.

Now I'm not saying that this anyone's fault necessarily. My parent's generation (60's/70's) were just trying to make up for the lack of attention and recognition that they felt they didn't get growing up. When social media came around, they loved it just as much, if not more than my generation did because they felt connected and enjoyed the same boosts of dopamine/confidence. How were they to know the addiction that would come with it? It's been so brand new that no-one could've known the true, long-lasting effects. The past 50 years is really quite remarkable to look back at- the pendulum effect shows such vast differences in the way each generation was raised and the results in the following generation.

With that fact out of the way, we can move on to how to deal with our addictions and reset the thought patterns that our destroying our self-confidence.

As a human race we typically find a way to outlaw the things that are addictive. In the past 10 years alone, smoking laws were heavily enforced, only to be replaced with vape pens & e-cigarettes which are now being restricted again by the government because of the unknown/potential damage they do to the body. But what about social media? Will that ever be regulated? No, at least not in America. Consumerism, our economy, our government, politics is thriving off of the ability to reach millions of people in seconds. The media runs our minds and because we are addicted to how it feels when we are affirmed through likes, comments, shout-outs, etc., we keep coming back minute after minute.

The average amount of time spent on social media per day is two hours and 23 minutes. In 2012, it was at an hour and thirty minutes. Ya'll. That is A LOT of time. First of all, that is the world average, not even the American average which is higher. What's interesting to see is that as we've added platforms and increased the weight of what social media means to us, our time spent on it increases. Although we may think we have it good, the ability to connect to family and friends quickly, the ability to run our businesses online and the ability to obtain information quickly- I almost wonder if the generations before us had it better.

Social media comes with the immense pressure to perform, and worse than that, continually out perform yourself. If you get a hundred likes on one picture or a 10 upvotes on a Coil post- you automatically feel the need to get 101 likes on the next photo or 11 upvotes on your next post. It's a game, an addictive game. Not only are we competing with ourselves but then we feel the need to compete with everyone else around us. I find myself guilty of the same thing- but, there is a way to utilize that to your advantage.

Specifically if you're on Coil- other platforms are too far gone- but on Coil, if you use the upvotes system strategically, you can use them to help learn what content is doing good and what content isn't doing so hot. You can adjust and create better content based off of your results. Rather than competing for the most “recognition” you can look at it as what content do people enjoy the most and how can you create content people enjoy? Technically it's the same thing, but you're removing the weight of “I suck” or “I'm not good enough”. You're then giving the people and their preferences the power, which has nothing to do with you.

In this age, we allow complete strangers and numbers on a screen to define our image, our worth and our confidence. Our stomachs drop and we beat ourselves up when we don't get the amount of likes we want. We feel less then and worthless when we see people that APPEAR like they're doing better than we are. Ya'll, this is a major problem! When did we decide that other people's opinions & preferences were going to get to define how we looked at ourselves in the mirror?

I recently wrote a song about this specific issue:

“B Ok” which will be out on November 1st.

In the song I talk about how when you depend on social media for affirmation and to tell you if you're good enough, you're going to feel awful about yourself. Ya'll, social media is a bunch of BS because it's a myriad of false expectations that literally no one is able to meet and we all think that everyone else is meeting them. Don't you see? We're stuck in a cycle of misunderstanding and laying it all out on the line just to be disappointed and crushed by the lack of fulfillment we were looking for.

True confidence is the ability to look at yourself in the mirror and believe that you are worth more than you can imagine because you were created. You are a human. You are intelligent. You are unique. You are beautiful. You should find confidence in the fact that you are strong and capable- not the RESULTS of what you're capable of.

When you are a creative person, this can be really hard to grasp, especially when you're creating for pay. It can feel impossible not to judge and beat yourself if things don't perform the way you want them to. But if we want our creations to be sustainable, we have to start treating ourselves better. By surrounding ourselves with like-minded individuals, prioritizing research and furthering our skills, and taking care of our mental and physical health, we can maintain and scale our businesses without attacking ourselves and our confidence to perform.

I encourage you to start spending time with other people who lift you up and walk with you, without demanding anything from you. I encourage you to spend more time loving on yourself and doing the things that fill your cup and make you feel good. I encourage you to spend less time on social media and more time being present with yourself. When you are able to grasp ahold of who you are and love yourself relentlessly, your quality of life (& creations) are going to go up tremendously.

Love & be loved,

When Coil opened it’s doors to all users in May, I decided that I wanted to take some time to figure out the platform and test it’s longevity before promoting it to my followers on other platforms. 6 months later I am now openly sharing my tangible results on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I have absolutely fallen in love with Coil and I talk about it to everyone. I think that the number one way of helping a new platform grow is by spreading the word and allowing for lot’s of questions and skepticism. For example, if you mention how much money you’ve made on Coil but the person you’re talking to questions it, but you get defensive- they’re going to be suspicious. If it was an open, legal, workable, scalable platform and source of income, you wouldn’t get defensive and you’d be open to answering all questions. I only bring this up because in this day and age when we are constantly being inundated with multi-level marketing, the “next big thing” and offers that will supposedly “make us millions”, we need to be ready to explain the technology and help people understand that the world is changing and this is legitimate.

Why is this important?

Why should we be sharing our sacred platform with others?

A few reasons.

We need to scale the platform and the only way to do that is by getting new users. Coil is doing their part by working to partner with other social platforms and companies to enroll new subscribers. So where do we come in? The number one way to sell things in 2019 is by word of mouth. We trust the people we know and we love real-life success stories. That’s why so many people have been able to be successful in multi-level marketing. The same concept applies with Coil and Cinnamon. Let me lay it all out for you.

The big picture is that eventually Coil and Cinnamon subscriptions and the web-monetization technology will be everywhere on the internet. Ads will be a way of the past and everyone will automatically have subscriptions built into their internet bills and we will all be supporting each other just by ingesting content. But how will we get to that point? By making some noise and by getting people in the right channels of power. These channels and this technology has to gain popularity in order to make it relevant to the larger channels that are already being used. In order for something to become popular, people need to be talking about, explaining, displaying and in a sense, advertising the platforms to their current followers. This will help to expand the network, increase its popularity and will allow for quick, scaled growth.

How does this effect you as an individual? The more users on the platform, the more money that you have the potential to make, assuming you are creating amazing, high quality content. As long as you are creating good content and there is a continual stream of subscribers flowing into the platform, there will be money made. As I’ve stated before, Coil’s boost program is temporary. It is not going to be the norm. It is a temporary supplement for the lack of traffic. That right there should be motivation enough to be sharing the platform and working on bringing in new users and new creators! Don’t get comfortable in the temporary.

So how are you going to go about helping to bring in traffic? It’s all about converting your current followers and fans into Coil followers and fans. This not only benefits your status on Coil but the status of the platform in its entirety.

Now let me get something straight, advertising Coil does not mean going on Twitter and tweeting “JOIN COIL NOW! YOU’RE MISSING OUT!” or “I love Coil! It makes me money!”. People will roll their eyes and keep on scrolling. First of all you need to keep in mind that this is another form of business and you need to be professional and intentional with how you share your work. Second, when you are advertising for a company or a platform you are in a sense, representing them to your audience. Coil is a classy and intelligent platform- so stay classy and intelligent.

I feel like I’m starting to beat a dead horse at this point, I’ve gotten my point across: you need to be sharing Coil and Cinnamon on your current platforms.

How?

Like I talked about in my “5 Mistakes You’re Making on Coil” there is a four step process that I use to share Coil & Cinnamon on my other social platforms.

Without this process I would not be able to properly explain the platform or convince them that this is the next big thing. This is honestly because there are hurdles that one must jump over before they will be convinced that this platform is good for them. For some you will be lucky because they will have already been so frustrated with certain things that they will simply be glad that you have a solution to their problems. For others you will have to be doing some major convincing. Thankfully, with a system like this, once you create or use the materials that I’ve created, you will be 90% there. All you have to do is post consistently, offer to answer questions and follow up when they do have questions or when they want to join. Plus, by positioning yourself as an “expert” or at least “knowledgeable” on the subject of Coil and Cinnamon, you will naturally acquire influence on the platforms as new subscribers from your follower pool roll in. This is called organic growth and becoming an influencer organically.

1. This is a brand new platform, why should I add another platform to my long list of daily platforms I already use?

2. Aren’t ads good? Don’t they pay out the companies and people involved?

3. There is no way Coil and Cinnamon could ever out perform platforms like YouTube, Facebook and Instagram- I’m not interested in being part of a platform that is sure to fail.

4. I don’t understand the technology, it’s confusing and I don’t see how it works.

5. How do Coil & Cinnamon get paid? That’s not sustainable.

6. How does $5 a month really pay out all of the creators? If they were actually good wouldn’t YouTube & other companies be paying them?

7. Why should I pay $5 when YouTube, Instagram and Facebook and TikTok are free? Blogs are free? Why would I pay for them?

8. I don’t want to download another browser or download a plug in. That’s a lot of work and I use my phone majority of the time, this doesn’t seem very user friendly.

9. Ya, you made money, but this sounds like a pyramid scheme (everyone loves using this term nowadays) I’m obviously not going to make money. You’re probably getting paid to talk about this.

10. They don’t have apps? Not interested.

11. Who are these creators? I don’t even know any of them. Pass.

12. I went to sign up for accounts but I don’t understand why I can’t get paid through like PayPal or direct deposit? What’s with all this XRP stuff and why haven’t I heard of the one option that’s in USD?

13. Why can’t I send my friends Cinnamon videos without them having a subscription? Why can’t I embed Cinnamon videos where they actually pop up? Using YouTube, even on Coil seems so much easier.

Now that I’ve gotten some of the most common hurdles out of the way I’d like to provide some insight before I give you my answers to these questions and doubts.

These questions, concerns and doubts are all 100% valid and if you are to meet these, which it’s almost guaranteed, do not get defensive. That is the fastest way to lose someone who is somewhat interested.

Realize that not everyone is going to understand how these platforms work and unfortunately they are going to miss out because they weren’t open minded.

Like I said in my article about things taking time, not everyone is going to jump on board immediately, especially when there are inconveniences. These are valid inconveniences and until they are fixed, we probably will have a bit of a hard time getting skeptics on board. With that being said, think about how many updates and changes and improvements have been made to all of our favorite platforms- it’s not going to happen overnight and eventually these fixes will be made and our experiences on the platforms will be even better.

People hate new technology. They don’t like it when they don’t immediately understand something and there will always be skeptics and naysayers who don’t join until years later after everyone forgets about how they made a scene. When you encounter these people, don’t fight back, simply present facts and go on your way.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way we can talk about how to combat these answers and more importantly, how to answer these questions BEFORE they even ask them.

*I’m going to answer these questions below,* but I want you to think about how you can answer these questions in your informational materials you put out there before you are even asked. This could be through graphics you post on your feed or story, a self-made Q+A video you create or a blog post such as this one that you share with your followers. By pre-answering questions you will make your followers feel like you’re specifically looking out for them and that you’ve thought of everything. This automatically provides a sense of security and cuts down on the length of 1:1 conversations you’ll be having with people to convert them from followers on one channel to followers on multiple channels aka: Coil & Cinnamon.

Keep in mind, a consumer needs to see this vocabulary and your advertising materials and proof of the platforms working often. On average it takes a consumer 7 times of seeing something before they make the decision to take action or not. The likelihood of a consumer taking action after the 7th time of seeing something decreases significantly if they have not already taken some sort of action to engage, ask questions or actually join. That is why a CTA at the end of your posts or a question box on Facebook and Instagram stories is a great thing to have! This gives your potential consumer the least amount of work possible and increases your chances that they will actually ask a question or engage with what you’re saying.

By putting a CTA you are also giving people the comfort that you’re open to answering questions, citing sources and that is 100% legitimate and you’re not hiding anything. Also keep in mind, that as you answer these questions, whether before hand, in messages, or live, you need to handle them with class, grace, dignity and understanding that this BRAND NEW technology and that it’s going to take people awhile to understand it. With that in mind, you’ll notice that as I answer these questions I am affirming people and their fears/doubts/mis-understandings. Honestly, a lot of the doubts and fears are valid so if you validate them, they’re already going to feel understand be much more open to hearing and trying to understand what you have to say.

Alrighty, let’s answer these questions.

A: Yes it is a new platform and that’s exactly why you should start using it! It’s actually really great because it’s not an app yet, you won’t find yourself on it all day long and you’ll get really great content to experience because it’s still small. It’s easy to find new creators and there are a ton of hidden gems already. Honestly, because it’s new is WHY you should be on it! It’s not so new that it hasn’t been tested- in fact, it went through and invite-only beta test and now it’s in public beta testing. I’ve been using it for “X” amount of months and I love it because “x,y,z” and I prefer using it over “x” because “x”. I like to think of it as YouTube or Facebook or Instagram in their first years of business. Now they’re huge and people who were on them early are doing amazing, I don’t see why Coil or Cinnamon won’t be just like them too!

*note: fill in your personal answers based off of your experience and the market you are involved in. This helps to improve the authenticity of answering this questions and allow for a personal touch. People want YOUR experience, not a copy & paste.*

A: That used to be the mindset, but in the past 10 years consumerism and the ads that have come with it are getting out of control. Billboards, commercials, influencers, MLM’s- it’s all marketing, all the time. We can’t even go on social media without being bombarded with “buy this!” “You NEED this” “Everyone has this, why don’t you?” “I can fix all your problems with this!” It’s ridiculous and it’s gotten out of control. We have completely lost ourselves in a spiral of ads down to people being turned into walking advertisements. Models, influencers and MLM reps are walking talking advertisements. Regardless of the people getting paid to advertise, we can’t stop them, we can’t watch a video or read an article or get a recipe without being bombarded by advertisements. Although we complain about these often, most of society has settled with the fact that ads are here to stay. But not anymore. With the web-monetization technology that Coil has developed and implemented, we are not longer subject to ads. We can have an internet without ads AND get paid for our work. Plus, as more and more people create and start to realize that Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Google are censoring them in some ways or that they get to decide who gets paid and which ads are boosted and taking more money than the ads are worth- we see how corrupt the system has gotten. With this new technology we are able to hold the power, be compensated for our efforts and it helps to make the quality creators stand out from the not-so-quality creators. Although popularity is a factor, it leaves us with an incentive to actually work hard and not just cheat the system or beg for advertisement slots and endorsements. PLUS the creators who are actually in commercials and ads do not earn enough and are often treated badly and jipped when it comes down to what the actual ad was worth. It’s not a fair system and up until now there hasn’t been any way of stopping it.

A: That may seem logical to the naked eye, but if you look into the growth patterns of past companies and start ups, you will see that it is not impossible. If you add onto the problems that Coil and Cinnamon are solving, you’ll see that, for what it’s worth, Coil & Cinnamon could absolutely outperform them one day. You see, only an estimated .01% of YouTubers are actually making six figures and only 3% of those monetized on YouTube will actually cross the US poverty line of $12,144 for a single person. Would it not make sense that the greater majority would transfer their time and energy to a platform that ensures compensation, especially if they are great content creators? I mean I, Riley Q, have made about $1600 per month on average in the Coil boost program- while albeit temporary- is a representation of the numbers we will be seeing with future traffic- with that alone I will have made just under $20k in a year. That is leaps and bounds from what YouTube is capable of. You see, there are A LOT of content creators on YouTube that are amazing, but because they are getting shoved down in the algorithms and haven’t gotten lucky and gone viral, they aren’t being compensated because they don’t have just enough subscribers or just enough views. This leaves a large majority left out and they’re not making any kind of ROI via their time, energy, supplies, or money. PLUS, YouTube is still allowed to run ads on their content and benefit from it without a single penny going to the creator. I can pretty much guarantee that the minute they hear that they can make money for every single subscriber and view they get, based off of how good their content is, they’re going to come flocking. BUT in order for that to happen, they need to be told about it. That’s why I’m sharing it!

A: That’s okay! I was confused too when I first heard about it! The first thing to keep in mind is that we are now living in an age of constantly changing and evolving technology! New technology is a great thing and we should get excited when developers create something to better our lives, economy, etc. With that in mind, there are a ton of resources out there to explain blockchain, the inter ledger, web-monetization and how everything is all connected. This can be a very long conversation but I encourage you to do your own research if you’re skeptical or confused. Because there is so much, it’s important you develop your own opinions. Here are a few websites that you can read all about it & learn more!

I’d also highly recommend reading Hodor’s blogs on Coil or watching videos from the Digital Asset Investor on YouTube. Hodor is very informative and the DAI shares a lot of great information and trending news about the technology which proves within itself that it’s relevant and game-changing.

A: To the naked eye, no, it’s not sustainable right now. But once the system is working the way it’s supposed to- it will be very sustainable and scaleable. Eventually there is room for tiering, multi-company dependency, investors, etc. Right now Coil has so much potential that there has been estimated over $300,000,000 million worth of USD/XRP donated and invested into the company by Ripple through their Xpring program. For Cinnamon specifically, Coil pays them through web-monetization when content isn’t being watched. When it is, Coil is paying the creator. This is why you are required to have a Coil subscription to watch videos on Cinnamon. This infrastructure may eventually change, but for now this is how it’s set up.

A: When you get paid on Coil & Cinnamon you are receiving micro-payments. This ensures that every creators is getting paid fairly. Rather than receiving a certain chunk per video or per article, we get paid for how much time a user spends on our content. That encourage the creators to create quality content because the better it is, the more time users will spend ingesting it. Through the micro-payment system, it ensures there is enough to go around. Like I’ve explained before, just because YouTube has a great creator on their platform- doesn’t mean they deem them payable. YouTube often pulls monetization from videos and channels and you can feel like you’re walking on eggshells when trying to get monetized through their program and even once you’re in it. YouTube, in my opinion, is operating with a scarcity mindset and Coil is operating with an abundance mindset. Abundance always wins in the end friends. Now I will note, creators have the ability to monetize their YouTube channels using the Coil technology. I highly recommend this right now as YouTube is not going anywhere anytime soon and if you can’t kill it, work with it.

A: Here’s the reality, Facebook and Instagram are inching towards paid models and YouTube has already taken steps towards paid models. The internet is not guaranteed to be free. The major corporations that dominate the internet aren’t guaranteed to be free. Don’t expect them to stay free forever. With that in mind, if you had the ability to support an organization that is trying to keep your favorite creators going forever, wouldn’t you?

A: I understand that and Coil is actually working on this issue! Eventually they want to get to the point where their plugin is automatically downloaded on every platform and all you have to do is sign up for a subscription and you’re done! Another potential is they take it even further and have it set up so that your payment is automatically included in your internet or phone bundle. They want to make it as convenient as possible, but every platform has their bumps, especially in the beginning. Grace and patience are everything when it comes to new and evolving technology! Until these problems are solved you can use Coil & Cinnamon on Chrome, Firefox & Puma. All of these are available in app forms and can be accessed on your phone!

A: Well, if you think this is a pyramid scheme, go google what a pyramid scheme is. I do not get paid to talk about Coil. I do not get paid to talk about Cinnamon. They didn’t even ask any of their creators to share about it. We don’t get hired. We don’t have to pay a fee to even create, you can create for $0. Yes, you heard that, you do not have to have a subscription to create. With that in mind, if you are hearing about Coil & Cinnamon it’s because the creators have had their lives changed by the money they’re making because a. The technology works & b. They’re putting a lot of work into the content that they’re creating and it’s paying off- literally. We aren’t sharing because we want recognition or more money, we are sharing because the platform is incredible and we want the entire internet to switch over to this technology. The whole point is that any and all creators can make money if they are creating good content that people actually want! Don’t knock it ‘til you try it!

A: They don’t have apps.. YET. They’re actually working on them and like I’ve mentioned before, you have the ability to access Coil on the Chrome, Firefox and Puma apps!

A: They are amazing creators who care about creating quality content. A lot of them have actually been around for awhile but haven’t had a chance at getting recognized because of the corruption of the current system of algorithms and ad systems that other platforms have at the moment. I encourage you to explore these amazing creators and if you want your favorites on here, start making some noise. 😉

A: As of right now Coil is working primarily with XRP, the digital asset or better know as cryptocurrency. They do offer a way to get paid in USD because they understand that not everyone is interested in maintaining digital assets. You can withdraw USD through their third payment option, Stronghold. I would assume that they will eventually make it a bit easier using other platforms such as PayPal and Venmo, but for now this is what we’ve got.

A: In order to assure that creators get paid, unless your friend has a Coil subscription they won’t be able to watch the video! Tell your friends to join Cinnamon, problem solved. 😉 As far as the embedding goes, Cinnamon is working on a solution for this that would still allow them to get paid and pay creators. So yes, right now YouTube might be a bit easier to use, but I believe Cinnamon has the potential to be huge, so why not use both and post your videos in both places?

These are just a few of many hurdles,

but there’s always a way around them. Rather than dragging anyone through the mud or offending people who aren’t as educated about crypto and new technology we are providing the opportunities to converse and to better the community. I know that educating others can feel overwhelming but it doesn’t have to be. I highly recommend creating graphics or literature for your specific audience but if that isn’t an option or you’re overwhelmed by that, download mine for free! I’d love to help you start those conversations.

Cheers to expanding the community! đŸ„‚

Netflix started off in 1997, facing the largest video company in the world- Blockbuster. It took 10 years to become a streaming service, run Blockbuster out of town and is now worth $152.7 billion at their highest market cap.

Amazon started in Bezo's garage in 1994, he sold 5 items and his parents were his first investors. 25 years later, Amazon has 647,500 (2018) employees and is worth $43.549 billion (2018).

J.K. Rowling was practically homeless, living on welfare and it took her seven years to write the first Harry Potter book. When she finally did finish the masterpiece it was rejected by 12 major publishing houses but was finally published four years later in 1997. Now J.K. Rowling, because of Harry Potter, is worth $1 Billion dollars.

These are just three of hundreds of thousands of examples that I could give you; success stories that have boggled our minds. You see, we eat these stories up. We love success. We love the underdog. So then why is it that when we look in the mirror and we see the underdog, we can't seem to see the potential for success within ourselves?

Why is it that we deny ourselves the possibility that we too could be worth billions?

Why is it that we denote our talents and abilities and chalk up our inability to take action to “there's better” or “I'd never have the opportunities they had”?

Let me tell ya something Karen, none of the people who started those companies/businesses/projects were just HANDED opportunities. But ya know what, none of them just sat there waiting for them to be handed over either. All three of those groups of people felt like the odds were stacked against them. Resources, time, MAJOR competition- I mean Blockbuster, they were huge! Yet none of that stopped them because they saw something greater beyond the struggle. They saw freedom, innovation, a better world with them in it and so they went for it. They got knocked down, they felt worthless, they lost money, they messed up opportunities, but they kept on moving forward. They kept on believing that they could have more.

Let me ask you a few questions, ones that I want you to chew on.

Do you believe that you can have more?

Do you believe that you are capable of doing great things?

Do you believe in your greater purpose & your ability to create beauty out of gratitude?

If you answered yes to any or all of those questions- you are already on the path to greatness. Here's why. The first step to “making it” is deciding that you are going to make it. It's all mental. Having the will is 90%, having the way is only 10% and is easily made up for by the will. You see our minds our capable of doing amazing things. We can create, innovate, change and restructure, but those assets are frozen until we open up our minds and our will to believing that we are capable of those things. Abundance is a chain reaction of your belief systems triggering your will and therefore triggering your intentional actions. If any part of that equation is off balance, you're going to run into problems. Thankfully those problems and the mindset, if you're sitting here saying that you said no to any of those questions- are fixable if you are willing to open yourself up to some work.

You see, to make money you have to:

a. believe you are capable of making that money

b. believe that you deserve to make that money

c. have a plan of how you're going to be a good steward with that money.

Taking those mindset pillars you are able to move forward with a plan and accept the abundance that comes your way in whatever shape or format that it comes in. The more you are grateful for every bit of blessing that comes your way, the more blessings you will start to receive. This applies to time, opportunities, relationships- everything. Being rich in every area of your life starts with your mindset and then intentional action and then patience.

This is one area I am NOT strong in. I can overcome my mindset, I can believe, I can develop a plan, I can work HARD, but waiting for all of the pieces of the puzzle to find each other and connect is not my forte. I do not like waiting. But one of the beautiful things that I have found in that process is that a lot of life and things happen when we are going, going, going. So much so that we miss out on a lot. But when life forces us to slow down and be patient, we have many more opportunities to gain joy, rest, peace, and be grateful for where we are at and learn the lessons we are supposed to learn then. Right there you have twofold gratitude which in turn rewards you with an abundance of blessings.

If you are questioning any of this, that's okay. I did too for a long time. Until over time I started noticing what everyone who is rich and HAPPY has in common; this mindset. Eventually I learned to stop resisting what actually felt normal and let it take over my body, mind and spirit. In fact, this attitude of gratitude and humility is exactly what God has been trying to instill in me for the past 20 years. But as I've grasped it more and more over these past few months, even with a miscarriage, the loss of my husband's grandfather and much more- I've seen God's abundance flow throughout it all. Does this mean I never complain and I'm grateful and slow down 24/7? Heck no. I'm still ungrateful and impatient and lazy and get frustrated, but I'm owning those reactions and working on being better and doing better.

So with that being said, realize that if you have big dreams that you ACTUALLY want to fulfill. Stop trying to do all of the things to try and make them happen RIGHT NOW. They're not going to happen right now unless they're supposed to. Stop making the process so difficult and try to accept and learn from the lessons you're supposed to encounter right now. You will most likely find that they pay off and apply to the big dream that you are striving to achieve. We've got to slow down and stop expecting everything to happen right now- just because that's what consumerism and social media want us to believe is the norm- it's not. Things take time, positive attitudes, hard work, determination, perseverance and a whole lot of listening to what your soul and the world around you has to say.

You are so capable of success.

So now let me ask you again...

Do you believe that you can have more?

Do you believe that you are capable of doing great things?

Do you believe in your greater purpose & your ability to create beauty out of gratitude?

Breaks are good- healthy even, but when does a break become a crutch for our fears and insecurities? When does the fear of failure become the greatest reason not to do something anymore?

My love for music has always been evident. I started playing piano and singing when I was 4 years old. I performed for the first time in front of my peers at my 7th grade talent show. From there I started leading worship in front of thousands at my church. As the size of my audience and my opportunities grew, so did my confidence. I was blessed to be in a church that cared deeply about music and students and had many programs to pair the two together. The only problem, they favored boys. I'm not going to get into the semantics of everything, it's not worth it- but what I will say is that I had a very special mentor who came out of the woodworks and proved to me that regardless of what the majority is doing, there's always someone who will believe in you, if you'll let them. He believed in me so much that he taught me piano for 3 years, helped me to improve my vocals, taught me a lot of what I know about writing music and went on to help me record my first demo. Looking back, he was my biggest confidence booster, but he was also tough on me and gave me the realistic side of things.

The winter before I moved to Nashville I had a traumatic experience with a stalker and it threw me into a tailspin. Even though I kept writing music, I was terrified to tap into my emotions, not knowing how to handle what I knew I'd find. When I moved to Nashville, I had it in my mind that I was going to pursue music, but I knew my top priority was working. I didn't want to have the typical “waitress/musician struggling to stay afloat” story. I wanted to have time and financial freedom to pursue music on my own terms. That's when I started my social media management & web-development business. Before I knew it, that business had taken over my whole life and then suddenly I was spending all of my time with this awesome guy and before I even realized it, 6 months had gone by without any progress on my music dreams.

For those who haven't read all of my articles, I have been dealing with depression and anxiety since I was 14 years old. Throughout the years it has been an ebb and flow of just trying to handle it. For awhile, during the stalker incident, it was the worst it had ever been, but I had managed to get it somewhat under control when I moved. I'd say it was about November, five months after moving when I had my first major breakdown in regards to music. For some reason I had gotten it in my head that I wasn't supposed to do music anymore and that God had taken away all of my opportunities and that I was obviously supposed to just get married, keep working, have babies and live a mundane life. I started playing that story over and over in my head and anytime someone would ask me about music, I'd shrug and say it wasn't what I was supposed to do. I felt like I had failed. I felt like a total failure to everyone around me. I felt like I had failed my parents who helped me move to Nashville, I failed everyone back in Michigan who had poured into me and told me that I could do it, I felt like the naysayers who said I'd come crawling back were right, but mostly, I felt like I had failed myself.

*Now, if you're still following,* you're probably wondering “what the heck did she think she failed at? She hadn't even tried...” Bingo! For those of you who don't struggle with depression or anxiety, this might be hard to understand, but bear with me. My mind had gotten into such a funk and had made up so many stories that I found myself trapped in a web of lies that I spun myself. I had somehow convinced myself that it was too hard, nobody wanted me, I'd never have the money, I wasn't pretty enough, I wasn't talented enough and that I needed to just be good at the business I was running. Looking back, it was madness, but it was a journey I needed to go through to be where I am now.

Back to November when I was having my breakdown, Dustin really stepped in. He saw how upset I was about not doing music anymore and after months of going along with it because he thought that was what I wanted, he lost it on me. At first I was mad, but I now see it was the cold water in the face that I needed. He basically told me to buck up and that he was going to find a way for this dream to happen. For every excuse that I came up with he would say that God already had it figured out. For every roadblock, he had some sort of solution. After a few months – yes months, I finally gave up arguing with him and told him that when I felt ready I'd try again.

Fast forward to April, three weeks after we got married, we had our first knock-down-blow-out fight (over dishes 😂). The next day he went to work and I sat down at my beautiful stand up piano that my amazing father-in-law drove all the way from Michigan, and I started playing. For the first time in almost a year I was able to sit down and play without bursting into tears and feeling like a total failure. That day I broke my writers block that I had for over a year. That day the chains came loose. I spent all day playing and writing and I was so excited to show Dustin the song I had wrote about wanting to leave him that I wasn't even mad anymore! 😂 (He wasn't either, he was just excited I broke my writers block, even if it was about our dumb fight.)

Just a week or so later, Dustin approached with me the Coil concept that had launched that morning. At the time I didn’t really understand “crypto”. I thought that it was just invisible internet coins that he played with. After a deep explanation about the technology and how it could really change how the world works. I was sold. He had noted that there weren't any musicians posting yet and that it would be an amazing opportunity for me. Although I was skeptical, I decided to give it a shot. I actually didn't start with my music, I started with a blog post, but then I started posting music videos and I saw that they were getting a ton of upvotes. From there we started cleaning out my Twitter and engaging with people there and I saw that I was gaining real traction! It was so exciting, finally feeling like I could do music and that people WANTED it! Within the month, Hodor had reached out to me for an interview and the Digital Asset Investor shouted me out in one of his videos.

That same month I released one of my song “Didn't Let You Go” which was actually unmastered, unfinished & really just a demo I had done with my mentor the year before. I totally rushed into releasing it because I felt like Coil needed something more from me! Later that month my friend from high school reached out to me and told me that she had gotten into producing and wanted to work with me. She said she knew I had more potential than what I had shown in “Didn't Let You Go” and she wanted to help me get there. I obviously wanted to work with her, but I didn't know how I was going to be able to afford it. Dustin said we'd figure it out, so we went ahead and started the process. Right about the time that it was time to pay for the recording, I got a notification that I was automatically enrolled in the boost program! Right then and there, God confirmed all of the messy action that Dustin and I felt like we needed to take.

My friend went on to mentor me and helped me re-write the song that I had written during my stalking experience the winter before. That month she and I completely re-wrote the song, recorded it and on July 15th I released “Stitched”. Throughout that whole process I learned so much about songwriting, production, recording, the music industry and where I came in to all of it. After that song was released and it did incredibly well compared to my others, I knew I needed to keep going.

Because of the Coil boost program and all of the support that I have gotten from my amazing followers and colleagues, I have managed to completely self-fund all of my music projects and in this year alone I will have released four songs and two music videos. Peep my new song “B Ok” on November 1st! 😉

Coil has not only helped me to get my confidence back, but it's instilled in me a new drive to achieve my dreams and inspire others along the way. I am now able to create music that I love that helps others deal with their issues and in the process, change the way the music industry is run. I have big plans and big dreams for my music and for programs that will help artists to stay independent and stay up-to-date with technology that is constantly changing around us.

I know the struggle of being an artist and being a musician and dealing with mental health issues and roadblocks, that's why I write and that's why I am so passionate about making money and investing, because I believe investing is the key to investing into other people. The more money I have, the more time I can spend pouring into other people and the more money I can spend pouring into programs, independent artists, developments and new technology.

So thank you Coil, for changing this woman's life- she won't forget it.

We all start with humble beginnings in some way shape or form and it's up to you to accept that and ask for help. In the wise words of Meredith Grey: “Progress looks like a bunch of failures.” If you are struggling and feel like the end of the rope is near, don't give up. There is more for you on the other side and oftentimes, when the rope feels short, it just means that a new one is about to appear. Don't be afraid to grab hold of it- you'll be amazed at where it might take you.

Recently I’ve been trying to do some mindset work. Not the stereotypical, I’m hiring a coach and clearing out “everything that doesn’t serve me” work, but the “I’m meant for more and I need to change my mindset” work.

There is the terrible habit that is beginning to form, especially amongst Millenials and in that grey area between being a millennial & being in Gen Z. There’s this idea that you deserve whatever you want and if you want it, all you have to do is ask. “Mindset coaches”* coming out of the woodwork on Instagram and Facebook, preaching that they can help you turn your life around and change you into a new person who accomplishes all their goals, simply by stating their goals and getting rid of what doesn't serve you. Which in my opinion, is a ridiculous way to look at things. We aren't meant to be served all the time, we are meant to serve. When things are uncomfortable, that means there is a change coming. Uncomfortable is good. Uncomfortable grows. Not everything is always going to be comfortable and if someone tells you otherwise, they're probably bsing you.

*note: I do believe there are true and helpful coaches and mentors out there, but I currently believe there are more BS/fake one than there are real & educated ones.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for Law of Attraction & Manifestation- I think it’s very real. But what I’m seeing people miss is the actual WORK that comes with both of these concepts.

You don’t just get what you want by saying you want it. You don’t become rich by saying you want money. You become rich by handling money carefully, being a good steward of your resources, working hard, working smart, investing smart, living below your means and being thankful for what you do have. You don’t get more until you know how to handle what you have.

In preparing myself for the future that I desire to have, I’ve had to do some work because although I want to have a specific type of life, I am having to open myself up to accepting that lifestyle.

I grew up constantly doubting that I’d have enough, but always being provided for.

This has taught me that I am always going to have exactly what I need, but until I am grateful for what I have and a good steward of what I have, I will not be blessed with an abundance.

By holding myself back and not being grateful, I cannot experience the true magnificent of everything that, I believe, God wants to bless with me with. Whether you believe in God, the universe, or whatever- the same laws apply.

Gratitude- eucharisteo- must precede the blessing. When you give thanks and then go out of your way to accept and do good with what you are given, you will reap the rewards.

By focusing on gratitude and the positive ways that you can pour into the Earth and people, the more you will find blessings continually appear.

For instance, I believe that my purpose is to lead, love, inspire and bring joy. I believe that my purpose is going to be fulfilled through music and my writing. Rather than waiting for a career to drop in my lap- just by saying I want it- I am taking active steps to pursue that career. By doing these active steps and continually moving forward- my career is moving forward. I don’t always know what I am supposed to do and I don’t always know how I am going to have the resources to keep moving forward- but when I follow my intuition, I find clarity, provisions and an abundance of them. I believe that through my music career I will be able to lead movements of people, love on people, inspire people and bring joy. By working off of those intentions and allowing myself to do things that also resonate those qualities- such as blog, educate people on new technology (Coil & Cinnamon), share my story and share my music- I am doing the work that is going to further my community, my state of influence and my music career itself.

I believe that everyone has the capability of following their dreams and living the life they dream of. It’s simply a matter of taking the steps to achieve that.

1. Identify your life themes and core values.

2. Identify your purpose.

3. Identify how your dreams relate to those core values and themes.

4. Identify your first steps

5. Take messy action. You will never be in the right place or in the right circumstances to start pursuing your dreams, but if you don’t start today, you will never start and therefore you will never achieve.

Do the work loves, you won’t regret it.

For my lovely Coil Subscribers...

What do you do when you're doing the work but you feel stuck?

“How do I get into the boost program?”

“How are you doing so well on Coil?”

“I spend a lot of time on Coil but I'm not making any money or gaining followers, how are you?”

I've been asked these questions several times over the last few months and so I've decided to touch on some of the mistakes that I see a lot of creators making. If you're asking these questions, then listen up!

Hard work generates work-for-you results, it's been proven. But in order to gain the results you want, in any situation, you need to be working just as smart as you are hard.

Now brace yourself, because I love this community so much, I'm about to give some really tough love. But this is the same tough love that I give to my clients and friends for other social media channels and why they've done really well. Are you ready? This might hurt a little, but only because it's going to expose flaws that you might not even realize you have.

So why aren't you seeing the results that you want?

You're not following the guidelines and practices that Coil has put into place. You're not going above and beyond. Some may shake their heads and say they've already put in “enough” work. But what qualifies as “enough”? In this day and age, everyone is trying to work from home, everyone is creating content and there will always be someone creating better content than you. If you aren't putting in 110% every single day and putting your best foot forward, you're going to fall behind.

How do you stay ahead?

Today I'm going to cover the 5 biggest mistakes that I see Coil creators making and (most likely- don't quote me on this) the reason that they're not getting the extra boost they want from Coil.

You're trying to get into the boost program but you're not following their content !

1. Your content must be original.

2. An element of your content should be exclusive to Coil subscribers. You can achieve this by using the split feature or subscriber-only feature. The 100+20 rule for premium content may also provide inspiration for best practices.

3. Consistently post new content to help maximize your exposure to the subscriber community and garner upvotes.

4. Follow best practices when creating content for coil.com.

Before you apply for the program, be brutally honest with yourself.

1. Are you basing your content off of what you see other people are doing on Coil or are you being 100% original?

2. Are you creating variations of the same content “just to post”? Or are you coming up with new & variety?

3. Are you creating content that people will literally pay money to have? Are you creating a sense of urgency with your content?

It's important to have a good attitude about Coil and the boost program specifically. Coil didn't create the boost program to just keep all of the creators happy. They created it to keep top-notch, high-quality content continually streaming into their website. They are literally paying for us to go above and beyond, so if you're not doing that, how do you expect to get in?

You're missing out on the technology that is available to you!

I have recently noticed that quite a few creators will say a few words about a blog post they've written on their personal website or a few words about their YouTube video and link it, but then when I click the link I see that my Coil plug-in isn't paying and it's because their channels/sites aren't monetized! Ya'll. If we are going to further the movement of web-monetization, we need to be using the technology correctly! All you have to do is go to the plug in under settings and follow the instructions to connect your website, YouTube channel and if you have one, your Twitch channel. It is ridiculously easy and if you aren't going to be hosting your entire blog here, which is fine, you need to go ahead and connect/embed that. More $$ + more traffic = happy developers who put a lot of time into these programs.

You're not using Coil as a VIP space.

Like I said above, it's fine if you don't want to host your main content here, but you're missing out by not posting exclusive/additional content here. Use Coil as your VIP space to entice your followers/readers on your other platforms to join Coil. If you provide incredible content that they can only access on Coil, you've got a winning formula! The whole point is to have traffic flowing through Coil, therefore you need to have your content on Coil. The boost program is an extra incentive to help Coil gain more traction and increase the number of site visitors. This is an important key aspect that it seems like a lot of creators are missing. So let me repeat it one more time.

You are failing to create a brand!

Do you know what your micro-niche is?

Do you know who your audience is?

Do you know your target market and who you're trying to reach?

Do you have a set creative style that reflects back upon your micro-niche and attracts your target audience?

Is your creative style reflected in your header images, the images within your posts, how you're promoting them & in your writing?

Is your creative style & posting regiment consistent?

Your brand or lack thereof can make or break your career. Every person of influence has a brand that is attached to their name. A brand demands respect, gains attention and makes it easier for your followers to get attached to you. I'm not going to go into all of the specifics when I already have an entire Subscriber-Only series dedicated to teaching you how to build your brand! here

You aren't sharing your articles on social media to drive traffic to the website.

This doesn't just mean asking for likes and tagging a bunch of Coil users, it's about sharing your content and then sharing information about Coil & Cinnamon. NEW

I get it. It's hard to share new technology that people don't understand, but if you want it to succeed, you better get your thumbs-a-movin'!

Create a plan for each social channel to share your articles and posts as well as to share informational posts on your social channels to talk about and introduce the platforms!

This is my 4 part system for my channels.

  1. Introduce: I record stories while I'm working on Coil & Cinnamon content. I drop their handles and make the vocabulary part of my daily social media life.
  2. Intrigue: I post my earnings & talk about what I'm getting out of Cinnamon & Coil. When I posted my earnings from last month's boost program- man did that intrigue a lot of people!
  3. Educate: I post information to educate my followers on what Coil & Cinnamon are, working off of the seeds I planted in the first two stages. Today I created a whole post with Q+A slides answering questions about Coil & Cinnamon and removing the mystery around it all. I answer questions in my comments and DM's and walk people through the sign up process in creating their own account!
  4. Integrate: Now I share my posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to bring my current followers to the Coil & Cinnamon platforms.

I do this on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

If you need help on the graphics end of things- click here to download my slides I used for the Instagram Q+A! EDIT: Which p.s. just had TWO people sign up for profiles within an hour of seeing these!

I know I've covered a lot today, but it's all to say that even if you are creating awesome content and you're not seeing the results that you want, there's probably more that you can do. We live in a society that wants what they want, immediately. This is just simply not going to happen on a long-term platform like Coil & Cinnamon. You need to put in the time, the energy, the money, the commitment and the perseverance. Even if you're in the boost program- nothing is guaranteed. I am not guaranteed a deposit every month. I am not guaranteed a “Featured” post or to be put in the spotlight. It's a work in process and it's the long haul.

With that being said, stop worrying so much about the numbers. It's not just about the upvotes and how many shoutouts you get on Twitter. No amount of manipulation of those numbers is going to get you ahead. The reality is, good content and quality creators will always end up ahead, regardless of if their numbers are at the top of the chart every single day or if they waver back and forth. A smart and committed creator doesn't get upset when they don't get the same amount of attention on each post, rather they look for ways to improve their content, they stop what isn't performing well and they take lessons from their organic growth and performance. If their content is good, it's going to naturally show, if it's not- it will become blatantly obvious in time. So stop worrying about what everyone else is doing, how many upvotes they're getting and how they're getting them. All you need to focus on is creating the best content that you create and sharing the crap out of Coil & Cinnamon!

The whole point of Coil is that you get paid based off of how well your content does (the longer people read the more $$ you get). The upvotes are only but a slight reflection of that. Eventually it’s going to be about how much traffic you’re bringing to the site, who is signing up to see your exclusive content and how your content is performing $$ wise. By implementing habits like these now, you are setting yourself up for success in the future.

I'm switching it up this week due to the lack of music releases lately. Instead I want to feature a few of the musicians* and artists I discovered on this week!

*please note although I usually feature original music, some of these artists haven't posted their originals on Cinnamon yet but do have original music available for streaming. *When Thomas Gardner Jr. plays his guitar,* you see a tattoo with the name “Evelyn” facing outward from his inner left arm. This is a tribute to his late mother, who put a guitar in his hands at age 10 and began his lifelong love with playing music.

As the lead guitarist and harmony-singing vocalist in various rock bands growing up in his hometown of Warwick, Rhode Island, Gardner was encouraged by his bandmates to write and sing his own songs. His first attempt in 2006, the catchy pop-rock tune “Summertime in Rhode Island” which he sang with his band Someday Providence, caught the attention of local radio stations and still plays in heavy rotation on their summer playlists.

Gardner made the move to Los Angeles and immediately got an ongoing gig as lead guitarist for a touring rock band, while continuing to write his own folk-style music that had influences like Neil Young, Nick Drake, and Paul Simon. He left that band to focus on his own harmony-driven folk project, The Borrower’s Debt. The new quartet quickly rose up the LA music scene ranks, opening for acts like The Monkees, The Lone Bellow, and Nicki Bluhm. Their album also caught the attention of writer/director Cameron Crowe who sent an email saying “Love the music! Your fan, C.” After the band dissolved in 2013, Gardner started his long-awaited solo project, finally stepping to center stage.
