Everybody else are still asleep. It's not even early, we've all flipped the hours and the kids are staying up far too late day after day (sorry, night after night). We'll have to fix that before school starts again.
I'll have the first cups of coffee alone I guess.
The last shivering day of the crappy year 2020, well what is there to say. We won't have a party. Me, my wife and the kids will eat a nice dinner at home, stay up late, maybe go outside for a bit in search fore some fireworks in the sky, wish each other a happy new year and go to bed. It will be what it is. It will be a reasonable closing of 2020.
One really good thing happened some days ago, but I’ll have to get back to that later. It’s too early to talk about it.
Jag visste att det skulle bli ett långt och långsamt jullov. Bitvis mentalt krävande att röra sig i hemmet hela dagar bland barn som har tråkigt. Strategin jag lagt består av tre aktiviteter; sova, läsa, springa. När jag efter några dagars vilsenhet drog mig till minnes att det var just så jag planerar denna ledighet kändes allt bättre. Igår läste jag ut Mina drömmars stad, idag började jag på Samlade verk och trots att jag sov till klockan 10 känner jag ingen nedstämdhet. Jag ska strax ut och springa i regnet. Den yngsta sonen har blicken klistrad vid sin mobil och jag tänker inte lägga mig i. Dottern kläder pussel med min fru och det tänker jag verkligen inte störa. Den äldste tonåringen kommer att sova till klockan tre. Så får det vara med det.
Jag har aldrig tidigare läst Per-Anders Fogelströms Stad-serie, romansviten om Stockholm som startar 1860. Nu när jag börjat på första delen är jag glad att jag väntat. Jag hade inte alls haft samma behållning av den om jag läst den med mindre erfarenhet av att bo i den här staden. Barnängen, Nytorget, Vita bergen är idag mycket välbekanta platser för mig och jag har bättre koll på deras historia nu än jag hade som nyinflyttad. Stockholm blir bara mer intressant ju längre tid jag vistas här. Att läsa Mina drömmars stad förstärker den känslan ytterligare.

December 24, Christmas Eve, is when the big stuff happens in Sweden. That’s the day when Santa is coming, when you share gifts and eat a festive meal together with friends and family. It’s because the Nordic countries back in the days considered the start of a new day being when the sun sets. That meaning Christmas Day starts on the 24 of December.
The date on this post makes the whole thing even more confusing. I started to write it yesterday (on the 25th) but finished it just now in the 26th.

Det lackar mot jul och dagarna går långsamt
Men jag hade en trevlig promenad och lunch med syrran tidigare i dag. Jag hann vara ute i flera timmar under den ljusa tiden på dagen.

It’s late. The teenager has a friend over. The twins have a friend over. They’re staying over night. I am tired. I want to get to sleep but find it hard when all the young ones still are awake. I feel a bit trapped in my own home. My wife are still up, I’m in bed writing this. I feel a bit sad for no specific reason. We’ve had a good day, I took my daughter and her friend to one of the ice skating places and we stayed for hours. We got plenty of daylight and exercise. Still, I am feeling a bit sad right now.
Me and my wife just watched Citizen Kane. Never saw it before. What a great movie. Also a bit sad.
I just can’t sleep any more. I woke up an hour ago, way too early to be a Saturday, but I’m not going to try to get back to sleep anymore. I’ve been scrolling my Twitter feed. Learned about Tony Hsiah. He just passed away I read. I had never heard about him before but apparently he was a big shot in the American business environment. He started Zappos, got rich, sold it to Amazon and got even richer. But the thing that got me reading several articles was the fact that he seemed a nice guy, a genuinely nice and caring person. He was involved with a project who’s goal was to make downtown Las Vegas a place for walking, cafes and small businesses and from what I learned he invested loads of money in that project. He passed just 46 years old. Haven’t found any descriptions about the cause of death.
I’m still in bed and me wife is laying next to me. She’s snoring. Maybe I’ll have to get up, put on some coffee. Maybe I should go for a walk.
I miss hanging out with friends so much. I haven’t seen them in a long while now. We had dinner plans a couple of weeks ago but we had to cancel when the restrictions were tightened. Today I’ll see one of my closest friends outside. We are going for a morning run. I am looking forward to this very much. #running#sodermalm

Hello WA
It’s been a while. I am working a lot right now, from home, and there isn’t much else happening in the days of corona. I try to think about the whole thing in the most positive way, and that means I am focusing on my family the hours I’m not working. I walk, I run, I try to be outside as much as I can during the weekends but November in Stockholm, well it’s not the best of times. Usually I would go out and meet friends at a bar, but right now that’s the worst thing you could do. The spread of the virus is continuing. Take care.
