Roscoe's Quick Notes

my micro-blog

So it's been a pretty good Saturday. So far. Took care of two KofC chores in the morning, and have been enjoying some pretty good college football through the afternoon while also moving in all pending CC games. Hoping for a good evening too.

Finding it necessary to break my daily chess work into three seperate chunks. I've got so many games in progress right now in five different online chess clubs that the brain fogs up if I hit too many at one time. And it's no fun paying with a fogged brain.

Today has been very long, I woke at 02:30 and was moving through early chores by 03:00. Accompanied Sylvia to a clinic this morning where she had a procedure performed. It all went well, I'm happy to say. Took her out to lunch afterwards, then back home for a quietly productive afternoon.

Let's see how many innings of tonight's Rangers game I can last before putting head to pillow.

Without any pressing deadlines, it's not easy to keep up a good rate of production.

Hopefully this will be my final long, busy day of the week, and I'll be able to coast through at a comfortable pace until the last week of the month. Tonight's KofC Council meeting shouldn't be too stressful. I do have a report to give but I'm prepared for that.

Got my weekly laundry done earlier today, took Sylvia out for lunch, and did some shopping. After tonight's meeting I'll relax and sleep easy.

So... another really good day following another crappy night's sleep, that was today. Sylvia and I both sad a good day working with a KofC 4th Degree Fallout, and followed that with me taking her out to a big lunch at a favorite restaurant.

Working with the photos she took and sent me I found, at no surprise to me at all, that it was better working with them on my Linux machine rather than on my Chromebook.

Hoping for as better night's sleep tonight I think I'll double dose on the melatonin. Let's see how that'll work.

Arthritis is bothering my right hand and elbow today. Hope it's better tomorrow. I'm scheduled to do some very public Knights of Columbus Honor Guard work tomorrow and if I feel like this, ... sword handling will be a scary proposition.

Thursday night football: I'm trying to follow the pregame broadcast over Sirius XM, but the darned station keeps buffering out. Have to press the “ok” button on the remote every minute or so. Hopefully they'll have this worked out when the game starts. If not I'll have to watch the TV coverage, and I REALLY don't want to do that.

Live is so much easier now that I've got a full-time Linux machine with enough muscle and speed to get things done. Two software packages I dl'd and installed today are making my document creation so much easier and faster than what I was able to do on the Chromebook that's been my only machine for many months. Scribus and PDFArranger are lifeavers!

Labor Day Monday ends well here. Pulling back from some of the political social platforms was a wise move. Pairings for new chess tourneys in which I'm registered will be announced soon and my already substantial game load will get much larger. It already takes me a solid hour each day to work through the games I have in progress. I can see my daily chess-time easily ballooning up to two hours per day within the next few weeks.
