Roscoe's Quick Notes

my micro-blog

This was one VERY productive Saturday. I woke early again, and remembered to work on my chess games early. It is so much better to hit the chess early rather than later in my day.

And I mowed and mostly trimmed the front yard before Noon. Looks so much better out there now. Of course I was TOTALLY wiped out afterwards.

The afternoon found me watching a NASCAR race, a Texas Rangers game, and now an Indiana Fever game.

I am looking forward to a good night's sleep tonight.

I'm tuned into Texas Rangers Radio ahead of the Rangers game tonight vs the Washington Nationals. I'm planning to stay with the radio broadcast to follow the play of the game and enjoy a relaxing evening here at home.

Key word today is soreness. Both my hips and the front of both thighs, and my right shoulder.

Remember my two falls yesterday morning in the front yard. That's what I'm blaming for this muscle and joint ache. Think I'll take 2 Tylenol and patiently wait for tomorrow morning when I'm sure I'll feel better.

The 2nd fall convinced me it was time to put away the tools and head inside.

Suspecting that rain was on the way I decided to try and get a bit of yard work in before things got too wet. So with the little hand lopper and the big lopper tool I intended to cut down 2 of the most offensive weed complexes in the front yard.

My 1st fall came while cutting away at the tall weed complex growing near an old rotten stump. Luckily the ground was soft and I rolled on my hip when I fell there.

The 2nd fall came when I was cutting away at a weed complex at a corner of a flower bed where it meets the driveway. This time I fell on the concrete driveway. Again I rolled on my hip when I fell, so no real damage done. But I was weakened considerably, and it took me a few minutes before I could get up and walk away. But I did. And I put away the tools and came inside.

Change of plans! I was going to do some yard work this morning. The slight chance of rain wasn't supposed to happen until this afternoon sometime. I've hauled the yard tools around to the front yard a few minutes ago, and stepped inside to change into my yard work clothes. While I was changing, the rain came. Darn it. Things are now soaked out there. Now I need to put away the tools, change my clothes again, and reschedule that yard work.

This has been one good Monday in the Roscoe-verse. Though nothing particularly outstanding happened, I was able to handle all assigned chores without any real problems. And the few minor problems that would have sometimes caused me major stress, didn't today. They resolved quickly and easily.

Today was surprisingly productive. As soon as the morning heat dried the grass enough, I mowed the front yard. Mostly. There's still a bit of touch up and trim to take care of, but that'll be easy to take care of over the next few days. As it stands now, the front yard looks much, much better.

A decision has been made. All day I've been trying to decide what my night's TV viewing will be: shall I watch the Pacers / Knicks NBA Game, or shall I watch tonight's Svengoolie?

I do consider myself a Pacers fan, and I do hope they win tonight, but I also want to enjoy a good night's sleep. NBA basketball is really exciting to watch, too exciting for me to watch so close to my bedtime. So with the hope going to bed with a relaxed, calm state of mind, I'll be closing out my Saturday night's TV watching with Svengoolie.

Tonight's WNBA game between the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun is almost ready to start. It will be interesting to see how the Fever is adjusting to the absence of Caitlin Clark, who is sidelined with a leg injury.

20 minutes away from NBA Basketball, Pacers vs Knicks. I plan to watch at least the 1st half of the game, and I hope to be able to watch the whole thing before getting too tired and crashing.
