Roscoe's Quick Notes

my micro-blog

I do hope this trend continues.

For the past few nights I've enjoyed a solid 7 hours of sleep each night. From ~ 08:30 or 09:00 PM until ~03:30 or 04:00 in the morning. Not waking up in the middle of the night at all. Nice!

Now I hope I didn't just jinx the good sleep thing by mentioning it. Oh, well. We'll see.

The adventure continues.

Holding onto a comfortable 20 point lead late in the 4th Quarter, my Indiana Fever is doing their part by keeping me relaxed and in a good frame of mind before bedtime. Thanks, ladies.

The only unresolved question I have is: shall I keep the ceiling fan on, or turn it off as I go to bed tonight. Hmm...

I'm listening now to the Colt's Countdown to Kickoff Show ahead of tonight's Preseason NFL Game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens. Kickoff is half an hour away. GO COLTS!

Today, Wednesday 06 August, it has been nearly 3 weeks since I fell in the front yard, mashing my right shoulder pretty good. At that time I expected to be back in action in a few days. Huh! I'm still waiting for those “few days.” Ah well... maybe next week I'll be able to do more with that shoulder and arm.

This afternoon I listened to my Texas Rangers lose to the New York Yankees. Ah well...

The adventure continues.

What can I say about a boring Tuesday in the Roscoe-verse?

Prayed my prayers , read my Bible readings and meditations, worked on my chess games, and hauled the green organics bin around to the back yard in anticipation of doing some work back there tomorrow morning. And that's about it in terms of productivity.

At least nothing bad happened. And that's good, right?

And the adventure continues.

Semi-zombiefied, but focused: a good combination.

Last night's insomnia-plagued sleep brought me into this Monday morning semi-zombiefied. Clumsy, moving slowly both physically and mentally. But I knew what I wanted to get done. It being Monday I wanted to do my weekly laundry. And there was a bit of business to take care of at my bank requiring a face to face meeting.

Zombie-Roscoe moved through the breakfast routine without breaking anything, saw the wife off to work, hauled the garbage bin out to the curb without falling, and prepped for the upcoming business meeting while getting the laundry started.

When the wife returned home from work about Noon we headed to the bank. The meeting went very well, it was over quicker than I expected. When I got back to the car the wife was surprised. “That didn't take very long,” she remarked, “did everything go okay?”

Zombie-Roscoe smiled and said, “ Oh, yeah.”

Satisfied now at how this Monday turned out, I'm looking at that bed over in the corner. Hope it gives a better night's sleep tonight than it did last night.

And the adventure continues.

Today's games to follow in the Roscoe-verse:

First up from the MLB is the Astros vs the Red Sox which I'm watching now on my Roku connected TV.

Later this afternoon my 2nd game will be from the WNBA, my Indiana Fever vs. the Seattle Storm. Watching this game is an iffy proposition as I don't subscribe to any of the national streaming services that will be carrying the game's live broadcast, and reception via the local ABC TV station either OTA or its streaming component is always very unstable. So this may be another radio game for me. Which will be fine as I'm mostly a radio guy anyway.

And the adventure continues.

It took them 11 innings and over 3 hours to do it.

My Texas Rangers snapped their 8-game losing streak this evening by beating the Seattle Mariners 6 to 4. And with that happy news, and with the fistful of my night meds taken, and with Blue Emu rubbed into my right shoulder and upper arm, this old boy is ready to slide between the sheets. Hopefully this early bedtime will lead to a good, solid sleep.

And the adventure continues.

Do I stay up and watch the final quarter of this basketball game? Or do I turn off the TV, head over to the bed in the corner, and put head to pillow? That's the debate I'm having with myself.

Both teams are playing really well, but I “think” my Indiana Fever will pull out the win.. We're leading by 8 points early in the 4th. Even playing without Caitlin Clark. The Dallas Wings, however, are stronger tonight than I expected.

But I'm tired of dealing with the pain in my right shoulder and arm. If I can zone out and fall asleep, then I won't be aware of it hurting.

Decisions, decisions.
