Despite last night's rocky sleep, this Wednesday has turned out okay. 1st chore was stocking the morning's grocery delivery, 2nd chore was prepping September's rent check which will go out with tomorrow's mail, 3rd chore was casting a very critical eye on the household budget over the upcoming *ber months. It looks like this old boy will have to get creative to keep things running smoothly. Relief is coming in early 2024, but until then...

1st chore of this Tuesday day was loading the weekly pill boxes; 2nd chore was placing a grocery delivery order; 3rd chore was decalcifying the coffee maker during which the old coffee maker broke. Luckily I found coffee makers that Amazon would deliver the same day, so I ordered one. Took the wife out to eat when she got off work early afternoon and found the new coffee maker waiting on the front porch when we returned home. Tonight I've got a Texas Rangers game to follow. Hopefully a good night's sleep will follow that.

Today's 3 major tasks: my weekly laundry, got it done; a conversation of significance with a KofC officer; and trying to “make do” with major home Internet outages. Hopefully it'll stay up long enough for me to post this. It's been down most of the day, and now is very unstable. Kind of like my hips. Heh.

An interesting Sunday, this. Unfortunately I had to miss Mass.... again. The hips are still too unsteady for me to be out in public unless it's absolutely necessary. The pain levels have diminished, except when I stumble, and that is good. But I still stumble far too often. And that is definitely not good. Thank God I have an understanding wife. And friends.

Too much insomnia last night, and the hips are killing me this Saturday morning. BUT, what little exercise I was able to squeeze in yesterday morning has my weight down and my bp steady. So... things balance out, I guess.

For those keeping score, my hips are still enough of a problem to keep me home, but the pain and the unsteadiness are more manageable this Friday than they were yesterday. I was actually able to do a bit of light yard work this morning. The big tree out front dropped a clump of dead branches, and I was able to break up the smaller ones to fill the green organics bin and drag the bigger branches around to the side yard where I'll deal with them when my hips are stronger. I'm hoping to get at them early next week.

Today I paid for yesterday, more deeply than I thought I would. Chairing the KofC Assembly meeting as I've done most fourth Wednesday nights of every month for over a year, found me spending a lot of time on my feet. I told one of my brother Sir Knights last night that I was going to pay for all the standing and walking during the 2 ½ hours... today. And boy-oh-boy have I been paying! So much pain in my hips I've barely been able to walk all day long. From when I woke up until even now, tonight.
Hoping now for a good night's sleep and waking tomorrow morning better able to walk.

Tonight I resigned from my officer's position in my KofC Assembly and turned over all authority and responsibility to my 2nd in command until my permanent replacement can be elected . The slow recovery from my fall in early May seems to have plateaued and the present (permanent?) unsteadiness and (arthritic ?) pain in my hips makes it impossible for me to attend to things as I should. So I hang up my sword, turn over the gavel, and live a quieter, more peaceful life. Starting tonight.

It's Tuesday and it's raining, a nice steady gentle rain that we need SO very much. Things have gotten so dry during this Summer drought. And it's so much cooler today than it has been for ... heck, all Summer long. Sweet!
