When we were kids, my mom told us to watch the bike in front of the market so she could go inside to buy meat and vegetables. It was always very boring and dirty so I assigned all my memories about local markets with a desperate feeling. Never went to one when I lived in HCM city.

But I like to shop around markets lately. There is Vinh Hai market nearby. Certainly doesn't have the best smell and nice music in the background, but you can buy chicken and fish at cheaper prices and much better quality than in supermarkets. Lots of fruits too. But I only eat fruits in the shape of an ice cream cone.

Remember in junior high Kpop idols presented polite, caring, loving personalities to gain fandom and sell merchandise? And those teenagers bought all of it. I thought the stupidity stopped at junior high.

But they grow up and idolize politicians who say cool (stupid) things they can quote and pretend both themselves and their idols are courageous, just because they believe they are.

I don't know how he does his current job or the previous one. But my sister in Italy complained the local station kept featuring him and his acting wasn't all that great.

But how can I improve myself if I don’t read news daily and let well-informed journalists tell me how to view society?

It’s pretty clear that the more informed you are, the harder it is to have an opinion. That is, if knowledge is your actual concern. But it’s super easy when you only read what benefits you, to be self-righteous, to be a victim…
