The Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) is hosting another meeting for general members this coming Thursday, November 11 at 8 p.m. Eastern time. We will use Zoom to again to welcome the scores of new members who chose to join the FRSO over the past four months.
St Paul, MN – On October 28, despite rain and falling temperatures, 50 activists picketed at the Army Corps of Engineers offices in downtown Saint Paul to call for the Corps to pull the permits for the Line 3 oil pipeline and to conduct a full environmental review.
Minneapolis, MN – On September 18 nearly 100 people rallied and marched to call for an end to the Line 3 oil pipeline. The Climate Justice Committee organized the rally to continue pressure on President Biden and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to end the permits for Line 3.
New Orleans, LA – After Hurricane Ida made landfall in south Louisiana, around 1 million people lost electricity and suffered sweltering heat for days. Even a full week after the storm, many are relying on community members and limited government aid to get by without power. Unsurprisingly, many started to look towards the private utility monopoly, Entergy.
St. Paul, MN – Over 2000 people came to the Minnesota State Capitol building, Wednesday, August 25, occupying the capitol grounds in protest of the Line 3 oil pipeline. Over 40 people walked 256 miles from the headwaters of the Mississippi to the capitol building to demand that Governor Tim Walz stop the pipeline’s construction. Over 200 people met the water protectors about a mile and a half away to march through the streets for the final stretch with them towards the capitol grounds.
Minneapolis, MN – On August 4, over 30 people gathered on an Interstate 35W overpass, near the office of Biden ally Senator Amy Klobuchar. Via signage, song and chants, community members spread the message to thousands passing by in rush hour traffic: “Save our planet, not their profits” and “Love water, not oil.” Protesters urged commuters to contact President Biden directly to demand an end to Line 3, as the president could kill ‘the black snake’ with a stroke of his pen – but he continues to prioritize corporate profits over the health of people and the planet.
St. Paul, MN – Twin Cities activists stood in solidarity with indigenous water protectors, July 29, and led a coordinated banner drop around Saint Paul and Minneapolis to pressure the Canadian oil company Enbridge to stop its Line 3 tar sands oil pipeline.
Minneapolis, MN – On June 10, hundreds of community members rallied at Gold Medal Park and marched to the office of Senator Amy Klobuchar to stop construction of Enbridge’s Line 3 tar sands pipeline. Protesters called on the senator to take a stand against the toxic pipeline. President Biden and Governor Walz have authority to halt the construction scheduled to start on July 1.
Minneapolis, MN – Twelve activists with the Climate Justice Committee (CJC) held banners that said “Climate Justice Now”, “Military Bases Pollute Communities” and “The U.S. Military #1 Polluter” over Highway 62 in south Minneapolis, June 3, outside of an military base during rush hour. The CJC was founded in February 2020 to pressure the federal government to decrease its carbon footprint.
