Protest in Jacksonville, FL demands justice or Laquan McDonald.

Jacksonville, FL – On Sept. 5, over 50 people in Jacksonville rallied outside of city hall for the National Day of Action against Police Crimes. The event, organized by the Jacksonville Community Action Committee (JCAC) featured speakers from various local community organizations, including the Jacksonville Palestine Solidarity Network, the Black Commission, the Northside Coalition, the Jacksonville Progressive Coalition, and UNF Students for a Democratic Society.

Minneapolis, MN – More than 50 people protested outside the Minnesota Republican Party headquarters in Minneapolis, Aug. 9, to condemn a massive immigration raid in southern Minnesota and Nebraska the day before, in which Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained around 140 immigrant workers.

Tampa, FL – On July 31, over 200 people gathered at the Florida State Fairgrounds to protest against President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” rally. Trump’s rally was planned in anticipation of the upcoming local and gubernatorial elections. Trump’s personal pick for the future governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, was invited on stage and received praise from the president.

Kenosha, WI – Protesters rallied outside the Kenosha County Detention Center, July 7. Dozens came together to demand the abolishment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a show of solidarity with the detainees held in the center. Demonstrators hoped to raise local awareness of the impact that the federal agency has on Wisconsin’s immigrant communities, including the threats of detention and deportation.

Banner drop in San Diego demanding release and reunification of families

San Diego, CA – About 800 protesters rallied and marched, July 2, to demand the abolition and defunding of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). ICE is a division of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) notorious for harassing and terrorizing immigrants, refugees and the Chicano community. Due to its proximity to the border with Mexico, San Diego has been a focal point for the immigrant rights movement, the struggle against ICE, and now the Trump administration’s vicious separation of families policy.

Massive June 20 immigrants rights march in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis, MN – As part of a national day of action on June 30 to #KeepFamiliesTogether, thousands of people poured into the streets of Minneapolis to march against the Trump administration’s attacks on immigrant families. The crowd was certainly larger than the police estimate of 7000, which is the number that the corporate media parroted. Some march marshals estimated 20,000, and one of the organizations that led the march announced the crowd size to be 30,000 people.

Los Angeles, CA – The LA Civic Center area was the scene of mass protest against Trumps attacks on immigrants, including jailing and separating families. Thousands of people marched to voice their opposition to the Trump policy of increase arrests and deportations of families from Central America and Mexico.

Tampa protests Trump's attacks on immigrants.

Tampa, FL – Over 1500 community members gathered, June 30, in downtown Tampa to protest the Trump administration's policy of separating undocumented children from their parents. This protest was part of a day of action called under the slogan of ‘Families Belong Together.’ This day of action follows the discovery that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been keeping undocumented children in cages in detention centers and forcibly separated from their parents. The protest advocated for the abolition of ICE, the reunion of these families, and the end of deportations.

Protesters marched from Miami Dade College to Freedom Tower, demanding an end to Trump's cruel and racist immigration policies. Activists chanted, listened to poignant speeches, and held signs that read, “No one is illegal on stolen land” and “Keep families together.”

NYC march for immigrant rights.

New York, NY – Thousands gathered in Foley Square, a plaza flanked by several federal buildings, including the immigration detention office, in downtown Manhattan June 30 to protest unjust immigration policy. This policy, which was written in by the Trump administration and recently changed, stated that children should be separated from their families. These children ended in detention camps where they were left to fend for themselves. In audio clips you could hear the screaming and crying of children who were left alone without their loved ones.

Before the city council meeting, they gathered outside of City Hall to demand immediate action to implement a Municipal ID for Minneapolis residents – one of 13 points in their Minneapolis Sanctuary Platform unveiled on Sept. 20, 2017.
