Los Angeles, CA – Chicanos and supporters have been gathering at the Metropolitan Detention Center since yesterday evening, June 7, when the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents and other law enforcement personnel, started flash bombing and tear gassing protesters.

A group of protesters stand with banners on a street corner denouncing ICE raids and Donald Trump.

Los Ángeles, CA – On Friday, June 6, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raided multiple locations in Los Angeles, triggering rapid response from communities and a spontaneous protest in downtown Los Angeles.

ICE operations carried out coordinated raids throughout the morning and afternoon, including two confirmed Home Depot parking lots and what’s known as LA’s Fashion District downtown. FBI agents were assisting in ICE operations and people were detained without warrants. It is still unconfirmed how many people were detained.

Protest at Portland ICE facility.

Portland, OR – On June 4, activists rallied outside of the ICE facility in Portland at 4310 SW Macadam Avenue, demanding an end to Trump’s racist attacks on immigrants. They arrived in the morning encountering a long line of immigrants waiting to enter the building. Sometime later, a van pulled out of the facility, full of people who had been detained.

La protesta encima del Capitolio Estatal de Minnesota exigiendo la atención médica para todos.

Saint Paul, MN – Mientras el gobernador y legisladores de Minnesota continúan reuniéndose a puertas cerradas y con una sesión especial aún inminente, más de 50 personas del movimiento de derechos de inmigrante volvieron para protestar en la oficina del gobernador Tim Walz en el capitolio estatal el 2 de junio. Esto viene aproximadamente una semana después de una acción semejante. El mitin fue otra movilización en respuesta a que el gobernador Walz y dirigentes legislativos anunciaron su intención de aprobar un presupuesto que les quitaría el acceso a la atención médica a adultos indocumentados en el estado.

Members of CSO after ICE was chased out of Boyle Heights.

Los Angeles, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, June 3, the Community Self Defense Coalition was alerted that there might be U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presence at Mariachi Plaza. Two members of Centro CSO were able to confirm eight agents resembling the fatigue attire of Homeland Security patrolling the upstairs and downstairs of the METRO line at Mariachi Plaza.

After confirming, CSO immediately released a call to all available community members and CSO members to rush to Mariachi Plaza for an emergency protest. About a dozen people arrived at Mariachi Plaza shortly after the agents left the scene. CSO was joined by business owners of Espacio 1839, the Chamber of Commerce and were supported by various businesses along 1st Street.

Santa Ana protest demands ICE get out of the courts.

Santa Ana, CA – On Friday, May 30, chants of “ICE out of Santa Ana!” were heard on the corner of Dyer and Hotel Terrace, where about 20 community members gathered to protest the recent ICE detainments of immigrants attending their hearings at the nearby courthouse.

On Tuesday June 3, at around 10:30am, the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee (MIRAC) received reports of possible ICE presence and possible immigration enforcement activity at the intersection of Lake Street and Bloomington Avenue in south Minneapolis. Our members arrived at the scene quickly to observe and assess the threat level of the activity.

Protest inside the Minnesota State Capitol demand health care for all.

Saint Paul, MN – As the Minnesota governor and legislators continue to meet behind closed doors and with a special session still looming, more than 50 people from the immigrant rights movement returned to protest Governor Tim Walz’s office in the State Capitol on June 2. This comes about a week after a similar action. The protest was another mobilization in response to Governor Walz and legislative leaders announcing that they intend to pass a budget that takes away access to healthcare from undocumented adults in the state.

This ICE agent was soon chased out of Little Village. 

Chicago, IL – On the morning of Tuesday, June 3, residents of Little Village in Chicago stood up to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and drove them out of the neighborhood.

Members of the Immigrant Rights Working Committee of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (CAARPR) spotted suspicious vehicles loitering near the intersection of Troy and 27th Streets and used rapid response techniques to prevent detentions.

Protesters gather at Florida Capitol to rally against a major ICE raid. 

Tallahassee, FL – On Friday, May 30, more than 400 people gathered at the Florida Capitol to protest a large-scale ICE operation carried out Thursday, May 29, on a construction site in College Town, a neighborhood a few streets away from Florida State University. The emergency protest was called by the Tallahassee Immigrant Rights Alliance (TIRA).

Speakers led the crowd, which spanned the entirety of the Capital complex, in chants such as “¡Aquí estamos, y no nos vamos!” and “Say it once, say it twice! We will not put up with ICE!”

San Jose protest against Trump's attacks on birthright citizenship. 

San José, CA – On May 15, during Trump's attempt to revoke birthright citizenship at the U.S. Supreme Court level, up to 100 protesters came out in defense of Immigrant and Chicano rights and condemning ICE operations in San José.

The Silicon Valley Immigration Committee (SVIC) joined the Solidarity and Unity Network along with Amigos de Guadalupe, SIREN, City Council member Pamela Campos and the Legalization for All Network (L4A) national week of action against deportations of U.S. citizen children.

Los Angeles, CA, – On Sunday May 25, over 35 protesters gathered in front of the East LA sheriff's department. May 25 marked the five-year anniversary of George Floyed’s murder by Minneapolis Police Department killer cop Derek Chauvin. Protesters demanded “No Derek Chauvin pardon!” and “Legalization for all.”

Centro CSO (Community Service Organization) organized the protest. Activists held signs reading “Jail killer cops” and “Boot the Banditos.”

Aurora, CO – On Saturday, May 24, the community came together at the GEO Detention Center to stand in solidarity with immigrants everywhere. Shouting chants like “Free Hector, free Jeanette, free them all,” the message was clear – the Aurora community stands united with all immigrants and demands an end to family separation.

Protesters stand outside the entrance to the Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Jena, Louisiana.

Jena, LA – On Thursday, May 22, hundreds of protesters gathered in Jena, Louisiana, outside of the ICE detention center where the Trump administration has detained Columbia student activist Mahmoud Khalil. Protesters from New Orleans, Austin, Dallas, Houston and other nearby cities traveled for hours to join the rally as Khalil appeared before an immigration judge inside the Jena facility.

Santa Ana, CA – El domingo 18 de mayo, cerca de 30 miembros de la comunidad marcharon hacia el Departamento de Policía de Santa Ana (SAPD) para exigir el encarcelamiento de los oficiales Luis Casillas y Isaac Ibarra por el asesinato de Noe Rodríguez y que SAPD haga públicas de inmediato todas las alertas de ICE y DHS que reciba.

La Organización de Servicio Comunitario del Condado de Orange (CSO OC) obtuvo de forma independiente los nombres y las imágenes de las cámaras corporales de los oficiales que asesinaron a Noe Rodríguez mediante una solicitud de la Ley de Registros Públicos, ya que esta información nunca se compartió con la familia de Rodríguez. En esos videos se puede ver que el oficial Casillas disparó a Rodríguez 18 veces y el oficial Ibarra le disparó 11 veces.
