I guess I am paying for this platform. Finally.
I need to pay for a year of write.as because it has been my favorite #writing #app since i started #blogging (in 2006). It is like $50 a year (or $4 a month which i missed this month's payments (oops)). So i will go ahead and pay the $50 so i can have all the features because this platform truly does value your #privacy (though I wish there was a Yubikey 2FA option available), and this thing is incorporated w/ the Fediverse pretty well (Mastodon), and is just easy as fuck to use.
But also, I am getting pretty inspired to create more “content” or at least do more stuff online than I have been doing in the past two weeks. I am awaiting the EdX course to start on Oct.3 but that is a ways away (one month to the day, specifically). I need to find something to do before then, but I am good with spending this time reading #books that I have been meaning to catch up on as well. I have one from SLCL about book #publishing that I wanna get in to + another book by Bonnie Kristian that I wanna start (as soon as it arrives). I respect her and the amount of work she put into it (even though the subject matter is about religion, and I am atheist) and I ordered it from an indie bookstore that is in like....upstate NY or some shit because I
A) wanna support indie bookstores
B) say “fuck you” to Amazon
C) hope both the store and the author make more money than an Amazon or Books-A-Million sale would
D) because I support the author and bookseller because I enrolled (or hope to enroll) in a possible online course that this upstate NY bookseller is offering that is about the publishing business.
As you can tell from that list + the book I am reading right now, I am thinking about giving a PRO book a go. “Pro” meaning I want to publish a book the legit way. A lot, a LOT of hard fucking work goes into writing/publishing a book though. I wrote a couple little books in the past that I made into #ebooks and I am proud of them, but I have one, ONE good book in me that needs to see the light of day.

the #app
it is going to be totes open-source, of course. it isn't going to be anything too revolutionary (the #code, that is). I am going to keep it as minimal and clean as possible bc i am A) a writer, and B) tedious about shit like that. So i am going to keep all of the code as minimal a possible just like the layout for the site will be as minimal as possible, just like how everything in my life is as minimal as possible.

Wrapped up that lecture and now i am ready to move onto Problem Set 2. #goodtimes

i am sitting here chatting w/ Winnie on Hangouts and thinking about what i shall do w/ the rest of my day and getting ready to make some sort of lunch.
i reset my phone last night and re-downloaded the FoxFi #app and i think it is just a free app now, because i haven't ran into any hangups w/ it yet. #awesome

Info: Needed
I just checked on the status of the loan discharged and more info is needed (again) so that means the time-crunch for STLCC is no longer a crunch bc there is basically no way i can get everything ready/approved before the Fall 2018 semester. Kinda sucks but considering i am already busy af, it is no big deal. What i will be doing is sending out their information that they requested in an attempt for a 2019 run + doubling-down on the #CS50x stuff i am doing currently. Tomorrow i have the rest of Lecture 1 to watch and then i am going to try to get through one (or two) “shorts” after that (there are about five shorts for this module).
I am also going to be making more purchases in September in regards to the #app i am building

How's Studying Going?
Very well!
I am ½ hour into Lecture 1 (which is actually L 2) and i understand everything just fine. I toyed around a bit w/ the terminal interface that the class is going to be using for #writing #code (which the URL i won't mention bc idk if i should), and i pre-downloaded all of the lectures (the “shorts”) ahead of time and have them filed away. A bit of this i have mentioned already.
But also, looking ahead towards the Final Project: I have a good amt of it mapped out in the “app notes” or whatever folder in TextEdit. I have a big section highlighted in bold for what the whole thing is going to look like, but not exactly what it is going to be doing “behind the scenes”, as it were. I will try to keep the code as minimal as possible just like i am going to be keeping the app as simple as possible, just like i am going to keep the directions on how to use the #app as simple as possible. #Simplicity is key!
Now, what i will be making for #CS50x is not going to be the final product necessarily. Definitely won't be. Because i really want to host this differently, and do a bunch of different shit w/ it that wouldn't necessarily match up to the standards of CS50x coursework. But it is all good.

multitask(ing is a false illusion)
i did a lot of shit in a short period of time just now. I d/l'd Google Hangouts on Chrome (which i will use as a stand-alone #app, ignore Chrome itself), i d/l'd ALL of the “shorts” videos for Week 1 of #CS50x so i can have them for offline viewing and not have to worry about a #data connection, and then i put each video in the Week 1 folder here on desktop. The Master Folder is called, you guessed it, CS50x(!) and it is going on the flash drive when the course is over (bc it probz takes up hella space on my SSD).
i am gonna try to BS every so often w/ my brother-in-law on Hangouts but he has a “serious” job now so i don't think he is going to be able to talk during the day. NBD.

i don't know why my head is so foggy tonight. Probably because it has been Dog knows how long since i have had a cigarette and i am a p heavy smoker when i do have them and i am not having any fun at all tonight.
That is not totally true, i do have nicotine lozenges and everything else i could want in life, so, it isn't all that bad. The thing i want most thought is for this loan discharge to go through ASAP. As soon as it does, i can hurry up and NOT enroll at STLCC because it has taken too long and it is too late to enroll in the Fall 2018 semester (classes start in a few days ffs). What i can and will do, though, is continue w/ #CS50x and the #EdX trip and get the certification that i am going after right now and build the #app that i wanna build.

Domain Reservations
I added the two domains I am buying next month to my GoDaddy cart and both are p damn cheap. One for the #app I m building, the other for a Mastodon instance. Good times.
I just hopped out of the shower and feel p damn frreshhhh and enjoying this sunny, awesome day as well as pounding back my third(!) Monster Assault. Everything is good.
I have also been on Mastodon.social a lot today and it is so incredibly friendly and nice over there that it makes me want to never look at Twitter again. But twitter is necessary (sorta). At least for me it is. Because Internet addiction is a v real thing :/
Anyway, I got a #CS50x lecture tonight and then....idk.

I Like shutupandgo.travel
Seems like a pretty basic concept: take the things you have and go...and...travel. Even if you're broke, just....go! The site/#blog or whatever it is, is run by two (beautiful) people named Damon & Jo and I think I discovered them a couple years ago when I was doing a random YT or Google search for “micro apartment NYC” because, I, like many people, want to live in #NYC one day. The only way I could afford to live in NYC would be to either rent a very small apartment or have a roommate or BOTH! I am hoping the project(s) I put together during & after the #EdX course (#CS50x) that I can actually have a little bit of cash to move to NYC as my lease here in S St Louis County is up in October. I basically have till the end of this month to decide if I am going to put in a 60-day notice that I am going to let my lease run-out, or if I am going to renew it. Either one is fine but having a place to live if/when it does run-out would be a nice thing. Haha.
Anyway, I really like their blog. Dog knows I have everything I need for a nomadic existence (as in, I have v little things. literally everything I own (except a couple pieces of furniture) can fit into a 20L backpack).
So, as I was saying about the project I am doing for the CS50x course – it is a Web #app and I already have a landing page for it (why not?) and I am going to buy the domain soon (why not?) and it is p dog gone simple and I will just charge people to use it, outright. That is the only way I will make $$$ off it because #ads are fucked these days w/ more and more browsers blocking ads (which is a good thing) and also because I hate ads, you hate ads, there is no way I am going to bother running ads. People don't even realize that ads aren't profitable at all unless you are a super-big service, Website, whatever. Charging $$$ for the service is better, IMO.
