So many exciting Bowl games I've been able to catch this year! There's another one playing now, but I'm watching the Saturday night Svengoolie instead. I must keep my priorities straight. Right?

Lord, help me. Tonight I've been asked to prepare a condolence presentation and deliver it at the Funeral of a mother of a friend of mine. I've never met the lady and her funeral is a week away.

Looking forward to today's Bowl games: the Pinstripe Bowl at 1:00 PM, the Cheez-It Bowl at 4:30 PM, and tonight's Alamo Bowl played here in San Antonio.
Looking forward to 2023 and replacing the tried and true Franklin/Covey paper planner system that I've used for decades with something new.
Looking forward...

When I was seeing Sylvia off to work this morning, I noticed what appeared to be a large plastic sheet entangled around the live power lines where they enter my house near the roof line. Huh! After promising the wife I wouldn't climb up on a ladder until she returned home, I considered my options.

I took the photograph included with this post, thinking I could forward it to CPS (our power company) and ask for advice. I didn't relish the thought of messing around with that much hot electricity without asking for some professional advice. But then I looked at the picture some more, and saw how loosely it seemed to be wrapped. And then I thought about a long, dry, wooden broom handle we keep in a corner of our front porch.
Knowing that dry wood is not a conductor of electricity, and that we've had several dry, windy days here, and that the plastic sheeting must must be dry, too, I decided to poke VERY CAREFULLY at the plastic sheet with the broom handle and see if I could unwrap it from my wires. So, that's what I did. And it worked. I got the plastic sheeting down.

This day has flown by. It has been productive. I got my weekly laundry all done up, had an epiphany when I realized in an instant the outline to use for the Assembly's January Newsletter, and I received and stocked my large monthly supply order from Amazon. Listened to a few College Bowl games, too. And all of this was made easier by virtue last night's solid eight-hour sleep.

Sylvia and I video-chatted with these lovely people this morning. My family back in Indiana. Happiness. If only we weren't 1,000 miles away.

Enjoying a quiet, relaxing Christmas Sunday. Wife fixed a full turkey meal with all the trimmings for the two of us and I've been napping post-meal while watching football on TV.
I should mention the gunfire in the neighborhood last night, There were 2 episodes of firing; first was multiple small arms fire, a dozen rounds or more approx. 11:30 pm coming from several blocks away; then two quick 9mm rounds fired at 4:30 in the morning much closer, maybe across the street.. No accompanying sirens, no police helicopters that I could hear, just the gunfire in the neighborhood. Didn't used to be like this here.

Early evening of a quiet, relaxing Christmas Eve Saturday. Sylvia woke very early and cooked up a big batch of egg rolls; we gifted them to a friend who really liked them. She's napping now.
I'm watching the second NFL game of the day and waiting for an Amazon delivery. Hope the packages arrive before she wakes up. Christmas lights are included in this order and I'd like to get them strung up to surprise her when she wakes up.

Listening to the Independence Bowl game on a quiet Friday, I find myself tempted very strongly to fire up another Telegram Channel.

Checking the temperature regularly this evening and listening to the wind blow through the trees outside as the coldest night of the season gets colder by the minute, I'm mighty glad that I'm retired and can stay inside where it's toasty warm. The only time I plan to be outside tomorrow is early in the morning when I start the wife's car and turn on its heater so she'll be more comfortable driving in to work.
