viewSpending most of the morning at my eye doc's office was not the best thing for my schedule this Friday, but the good news I got there was satisfying. He put me on a schedule to begin reducing the eye drops over the upcoming month. He said everything looks good re: my eyes, and he wants to see me again late April.
I've been assigned pairing in a US Chess 2-player, 2 game email match today. Sent my 1st White move in our game #1 to my opponent and rec'd his reply with his Black move in that game, and his 1st White move in our game #2. So... it's on. In all the years I've been playing Correspondence Chess (CC), I've played lots of postal games, where our moves are sent to each other via post cards, and in more recent years (decades?), most of my CC games have been server-based, played over the Internet. This is the first e-mail match I've ever had. Looking forward to it.
Thanks to March Madness I've got lots of college basketball to listen to in the background as I work on chores here at home.
Never did get to the yard work today. Tomorrow, the front yard!

viewHealth-wise, this has been a pretty good Thursday. I continue to medicate my most recently surgeried eye with the eye drops as directed by the surgeon, but the eye feels and seems to be working just fine. Hopefully when I see my eye doc tomorrow he'll tell me I can stop using those eye drops.
The formerly wonky hips get stronger and more stable every day. Weather permitting, I plan to mow and trim the front yard tomorrow afternoon when I return home from my doctor's appointment. And I'll tackle the backyard Saturday. Hopefully.

viewHappy Humpday, everyone.
I “think” I'm finding a happy balance to my online social networking after rejoining Twitter / X.
Unseasonal cold and damp weather will prevent me from doing any yard work today and tomorrow. I'm hoping to start mowing the front yard Friday afternoon or Saturday at the latest. And I'll tackle the back yard after the front yard is done.

viewNo yard work on this Tuesday. The weather was not as agreeable as I'd hoped. Cold and damp outside finds me inside where it's warmer and dry, working on my correspondence chess games, and listening to the Rangers vs. A's MLB Game

viewMid-morning Monday and this day is developing nicely in the Roscoe-verse. Traditionally, Mondays are when I do my weekly laundry. When circumstances interfere, I can reschedule that chore for a few days, but things work better when I can do the laundry on Monday. I've got two loads working their way through the machines now.
It looks like the weather and the condition of my hips will allow me to get some yard work done tomorrow and Wednesday. That's one day for mowing the front yard, and another day for the back yard. That's my plan. Hope it works out that way.
Yesterday I reopened a Twitter (X) account. Hopefully I'll be able to keep this on active for a good while before I cancel it in frustration and disgust as I've done to all my previous accounts on that platform.

viewLate Sunday morning and my day is shaping up nicely.
The wife asked me if the thunderstorm woke me last night, and I had to answer her truthfully saying that, no I didn't know it stormed. She said there was thunder and lightning, but I slept right through all that. Heh.
I've got more college basketball to follow this afternoon, and a Rangers game. So I'm happy.

viewWe've not yet had any of the thunderstorms in my little corner of Texas that have been forecast for us, that others around the state and the country have been hit with. However, when I stepped outside a few minutes ago there was a light sprinkling of rain, and thunder rolling in the distance, so maybe it's on its way. So maybe...
This morning I retired my big laptop, again. The thing is well over twenty years old, so it's certainly time. Over the last couple of days it has silently crashed on me while being used normally. So it's time to put it to sleep. Two reasons for my liking it so much: it has a BIG 15.6 in. screen, and it's running a Debian OS.
I needed the big screen because my eyes have been so bad, until my recent cataract surgeries. Now that my eyes have been “fixed” using the smaller screens of my other two laptops is no problem. And one of the smaller laptops I've started using again runs a Linux Mint OS, so I'm still using Linux daily.

viewLate morning Friday finds me listening to the radio call of a Purdue vs Mich St. men's college basketball game. I've listed the games to follow all day long, ending with IU vs Nebraska, that game scheduled to start at 20:00.

viewThank you, March Madness! I'll have radio coverage of college basketball games playing all day long back in my room. This will be the perfect background to whatever chores I happen to tackle.

viewEarly afternoon Wednesday and the a/c unit is blowing cool air through the vents here in this joint. And once again I'm SO THANKFUL we have a good air conditioning unit!
The Rangers are playing a night game tonight, so I'll be following college basketball today.
