New York protest demands release of freedom fighter Georges Abdallah

New York, New York – A group of activists gathered in front of the French Consulate on Oct. 21, to stand in solidarity with Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, a Lebanese Arab freedom fighter for Palestine, and demand his immediate release.

Minneapolis, MN – Ukrainian Special Forces assassinated Arsen Pavlov, a hero of the Donbass region’s fight against domination by the Ukraine, on Oct. 16. A bomb detonated in the elevator of his apartment building killed Pavlov, a battalion commander who is also known by his call name “Motorola”. The Donetsk Ministry of Defense labeled this an act of terrorism by the Ukraine government.

Durban, South Africa – During the 17th Congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) on Oct. 7, Fight Back! spoke with Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, the General Secretary of the Cuban Workers Central (CTC), the umbrella union federation of workers in socialist Cuba which represents more than 3.5 million workers. At the WFTU Congress, Guilarte was also elected as one of the vice president of the WFTU’s Presidential Council.

Durban, South Africa – 1500 delegates from class-struggle unions from over 110 countries gathered in Durban, South Africa on Oct. 5 to begin the 17th Congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU). The WFTU represents 92 million workers in 125 countries.

Utah rally in Solidarity with Palestine

Salt Lake City, UT – Fifteen people joined Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) outside the Wallace F. Bennett Federal Building, Aug. 27, in solidarity with Palestine after the most recent attacks. The week before, over 50 airstrikes were launched in less than an hour by the apartheid state Israel against Gaza. The barrage was the worst since Operation Protective Edge in 2014 which killed over 2100 Palestinians.

NYC activists raise their fist in solidarity with Bilal Kayed

New York, NY – On Aug. 23, the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network and NYC Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) hosted a panel called “Frontlines of resistance: Bilal Kayed and the struggle for Palestine”, regarding the state of occupied Palestine and the fight that political prisoners are currently waging against their Israeli jailers.

NYC action in solidarity with Palestinian hunger striker Bilal Kayed

New York, NY – On Aug. 19, the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network held a picket in front of the G4S office in off of Fifth Avenue. Samidoun has been holding weekly protests to stand in solidarity and demand the freedom of Bilal Kayed, a Palestinian man who is being wrongly detained in the Israeli prisons.
