Roscoe's Quick Notes

my micro-blog

This Tuesday has been another good one for me, another day spent entirely without using a walking stick. Of course, had I left home I'd have kept one with me. My stride is still not normal, sometimes more shuffle, sometimes more stagger, and the occasional hitch in my hips still happens. but I'm no longer doubled-over in pain. And when here at home there's always something sturdy to lean on. Progress continues.

A good Monday, this. Last night was the 3rd in a row that I've been able to sleep the night long in my bed. And today I spent nearly the entire day without the need for my walking stick.

Have been having an acceptable Sunday, all things considered.

Last night was the second night in a row that I've been able to sleep all night in my bed. For the past number of weeks (months?) back and hip pain have forced me to spend much of the nights sleeping in one of two recliner chairs. So... progress there.

Actions of the Communist Pope Francis have strengthened my resolve to distance myself from the Novus Ordo Cult which controls the levers of power at all levels of the Catholic Church. I don't want to leave the Catholic Church, but in order to protect my sanity I'm going to take steps to align myself more closely with more traditional branches of the Church.

Early evening finds me enjoying a satisfying Saturday. Two Big Ten Conference football games this afternoon: Michigan won their game earlier, and Purdue is leading Minnesota late in the third quarter of their game..

Tonight's Svengoolie movie will be a light comedy, one of my favorites, so I anticipate heading to bed afterwards in a good mood.

Not a bad Friday, all things considered.

Hips were pretty wonky in the early part of the day. Needed to keep the big walking stick handy.

Had to “jump start” the furnace first thing this morning, but it's run well since that.

Caught a very exciting college basketball game tonight, Duke vs Arizona.

I am going to HAVE TO learn to pace myself better! Yesterday I got real energetic and cleaned out the garage and fixed the furnace. Today I paid for all that physical work with much pain and wonkiness in my hips.

Expecting a better day tomorrow because I've been much more moderate re: my physical activity today.

Wednesday evening finds me relaxing to the radio call of a men's college basketball game, Ohio Bobcats vs Troy Trojans.

Happy that my hips allowed me to get quite a bit of cleaning done in the garage, and I fixed the furnace.

This Tuesday I believe I've finally found the balance of meds and exercise that is most conducive to healing the wonkiness of my hips. Time will tell, of course. But I'll go to bed tonight feeling pretty darned good about this.

This Monday is a transition day of sorts. The circadian rhythm is still wonky, my biological clock out of synch with the Daylight Savings Time change that hit Sunday morning.

Hips are wonky today, too. I'd become overly confident in the effect of my new hip brace and decided to stop using the pain relief cream and the oral pain meds. Today I've been paying for that decision.

The time change days that come twice each year always throw me off schedule, and this Sunday has been no exception to that. It usually takes a week or so for my circadian rhythm to fall back into sync. As long as I can wake each morning with my alarms, fix the wife her coffee and breakfast, and get her off to work on time, all will be well.
