Compared to most recent days and weeks, this Saturday was better in terms of my hip health. And for that I'm very thankful. I'm still a long way from being able to go out and about responsibly.
I'm hoping that in a few days I'll be able to exercise more properly and regularly. I may even be able to start walking daily out in the neighborhood, with my walking stick of course.

The hip brace I ordered yesterday arrived this afternoon. I put it on immediately and noticed an increase in my stability when walking, and a decrease in hip pain. Things are looking up, boys and girls.
Listening tonight to the radio call of a college football game, Boston College vs Syracuse.

Hip braces! Only today did I learn that there are such things! And they are supposed to treat the exact symptoms that I've been suffering from for the last 6 months! So I ordered one today and I expect it to be delivered tomorrow. Maybe an end to this hip wonkiness is in sight!
That's my big news for this Thursday.

Sad news this Wednesday is that Coach Bob Knight, former Coach of the Indiana University Hoosiers Men's basketball team, died today at the age of 83 y/o. I lived in Bloomington, Indiana, home of IU's main campus when Bob Knight coached there. My kids and I loved following his teams. He was a good man who will be missed by many.

The weather is beautiful in San Antonio today and this Halloween evening will be perfect trick for treating. Wonder if we'll get any trick or treaters this year. I've got a bowl of little chocolate candies ready just in case.

This last Monday of October has been a pretty good one in the Roscoe-verse.
Just heard the furnace kick in. Good to have it running rather than the a/c. This cooler weather is most welcome.

Despite last night being so rough, insomnia and pain wise, this Sunday has not been too bad at all.
I've been very moderate and careful today in my diet and activity level, so I'm hoping for a better night's sleep tonight.
Great that the Dallas Cowboys won their game today. I was able to watch the whole thing. And I caught coverage of the Mexico Grand Prix this afternoon, too.

Oh sure, I could watch tonight's World Series on the TV. It's on FOX for crying out loud. But where's the fun in that? I really don't like all the Network hype.

So I've fired up my little Raspberry Pi 400, opened up a browser window to listen to the radio call of the game broadcast by 105.3 the Fan, and another window to follow the game stats updated in real time via MLB's Gameday srvice. This is how I choose to follow the games

Saturday afternoon and feeling better (less bad?) than I've felt at this hour of the day for the last few days. This morning was still tough for my hips, but not as tough as the last few days have been. And today's morning health metrics (body weight and blood pressure) were excellent for the 2nd day in a row.
Half-time now of my 2nd college football game of the day, and after this game I'll have the 2nd game of the World Series to follow. Yes, I'm having a happy sports-following Saturday.

Friday evening, less than an hour before Game 1 of the 2023 Word Series. Go Rangers!
Assessing my experiment of last night, sleeping in my reclining office chair rather than my bed, yields mixed results: On the one hand, my health metrics this morning, following that sleep, were simply fantastic! According to the bathroom scales, my body weight was down 3 lbs. from the day before. And my blood pressure was excellent.
But on the other hand, my hips were in worse shape than they have been in a long time. Pain, weakness, and general wonkiness was worse than it's been for a long time. And improving the condition of my hips ia what this experiment was all about.
Tonight I'll repeat the experiment. And I'll try to set the room up differently to allow a better sleep. Hope it works.
